For the bandsaw vice, I needed to get a welder out and stick a nut onto some 6mm plate, havent used either in ages. Started with some arc.

I was quite happy with that.
Then got the argon set up and started on the welding bench and garden table legs with tig. 10 tungstens sharpened 3 times each
Couldnt use my wp9 pen torch or stubby clear lens as tungstens still too long.

Very happy with it, most of the welds are poo, filling the poor fit gaps was a pain, but Ive had zero practise after the test welds when I got it last year. Argon reg was showing empty for the last hour. I'll try to finish the bottle and get a fresh one.

Gas bottle, bench grinder and tig are all nicely accessable in the shed now so I hope to use more often.

Today playing around with a EWM inverter from the 90th and it really screws.
These machines are really not serviceable as you have to fully dismantle it to get on rectifiers or PTC which is obviously blown.
Boxes of screws and nuts in varying dias.
Initially planned to clean up my different places but stumbled over it and this is where the and of the day begins....

Some steps further on my EWM.
Figured out broken primary switching board.
DC link is short circuit.
That mainly caused cracked PTC.
So again need to roll the dice to scrap or repair.

Turns out to be a broken primary switch.
Need to crack it into spares.
but that’s what it is.

Got the flappy stop switch and T track fitted to the table saw and cobbled together a temporary rip fence out of a surplus length of 2x2 ally box:


Very impressed with it how true it cuts but the fence is definitely temporary! Might make a wooden one with a toggle clamp, this one has a couple of M8 ( other threads more beffitting a dinosaur are available...) cap screws which work but are a pita .

And seeing as the weather is set fair, the first job for the saw was a windbreak out of some offcuts of 1/2" mdf for the gas bbq which is going back in the wagon tomorrow:

I just poke a 3/16” pop rivet through the holes in the trigger housing. The hooky things on the trigger clip over it nicely

I thought I was the only one to do this! I put a rivet tail or whatever they are called on my truck keys.

We are the only country I have been to in Europe that doesnt have the facility to latch them on

i use the fuel cap to stick under the lever

Hay bales. Lots of em. Not so many in this pic but I thought you lot would be more interested in seeing some of the scenery than just the hay bales. I'd rather be welding, of course, but I always help out with haymaking, picking cherries, grapes, chestnuts, olives, ...

I remember in the early ‘80’s,they had a latch for that.

If the forecourt staff see you and follow their training, they should be switching your pump off . . . all to do with self-service stations I believe and licencing conditions - can't trust the general public to know what to do when the auto-shut off fails, or the nozzle falls out . . .

I used to be paid not very much per hour to stand on-top of quite a few thousand litres of various fuels for Shell a long time ago. Watching people do the same dumb things that would get me a boll ocking if my manager, area manager or the local fire brigade came doing a licence inspection . . .
