Finally got round to making a board today, to protect the ways when changing chucks.

Id be interested to know what gauge/mm2 copper they use in the water cooled torches.

Just under 4mm dia so approx 12mm2 on a WP20

Good idea. I should make something like that. At the moment, I'm just placing a rubber sheet over the ways when changing the chuck or setting up a heavy object in the chuck. Your approach also gives you a temporary working surface.

Bracket for the outlet is tig welded, hot zinc dipped and powder coated.

No there the right size thankfully . Had to be done that way for the piers and to avoid a water main on one side

Made this jig so I could plane down this end grain cutting board I am making.

Worked pretty well despite the small router bit I was using (19mm or 3/4"), need to get a proper bit for planing. And I'd have less work sanding that pattern out.

They look good, and TBH I would have never thought of using I beams as gate posts in this way.

Today I made my cooler work again.

Looks like I was lucky, or certainly seems that way. I removed the pump and motor started no probs, put the pump back on and sometimes it started, sometimes it didn't. Onto RS and ordered a new cap and it seems to have cured it, well so far anyway.
So £4.14 for the cap and I am only £89 down for a torch

It's something which has been on my to-do list for ages. Made it long so that I have to wind the carriage almost to the end of the bed too. Should hopefully stop me stabbing myself on the back of the hand with whichever tool is fitted at the time.

I borrowed a few ideas from holders I’ve seen online. My variation on the ones I’ve seen was to make two sets of cutouts, one for a larger TIG torch and one for a smaller TIG torch, which could be rotated to select the size. I don’t think that’s a new idea, as there are almost certainly people who are smarter, faster, and better looking than I am who thought of it first, but here it is.

Two opposed pairs of Belleville disc springs provide adjustable clamping force to maintain the selected position with enough resistance to keep it from rotating when in use, but still allow it to be rotated by hand. The multiple Belleville disc springs provide a wider, less-sensitive adjustment range than a single Belleville spring. The switchable magnet makes it easy to reposition, and it can drop any beard of ferrous debris that it might grow. The magnet can also serve double-duty as a setup magnet. As with other magnetic bases, it’s much more strongly attracted to a thick steel bench top than a thin one. If the steel top is too thin, the magnet might not hold adequately.

I like the magswitch base. I bought a couple of cheap TIG torch holders similar to what you've seen for sale, they work fine but I hate the permanent magnets.

Thanks. As budget allows, I'm trying to gradually replace my permanent magnet setup stuff with switchable magnets. Definitely less hassle and less messy.

Today, I finished 'wood-bothering' in the shape of a stand to hold my spare Winter alloys over the Summer - mainly to keep them at ground level and up as getting them into the allocated corner [partly below garden level] was a real chore and sore on my old back.... Heavy buggers, these wheel/tyre combos.....

Just got a couple of coats of preservative on before the rain started - pics when it stops, which may be some days if you believe forecasts.
