Anyone using Hypertherm fine cut nozzles, make sure you get the fine cut swirl ring. It looks identical but does make a difference.

Wife got the new 3 model with 180 Hp, 5 more than my 6. Can't have it that way just don't know what model I want.
Would really like the 6 cyl version but probably won't be sold here due to EU fuel consumption targets...

I have a 2017 Mazda 3 with standard 2.0l 120ps engine and I've never been so pleased with a car.

ive been welding a mates Suzuki Carrier both outer sills gone , he had them made , couldnt buy them off the shelf, he cut all the rot out and I filled it back in , got to finish off on Monday

All finished and out of clamps, a bit of planing and sanded to 60 grit. I could do with a hard pad on my ROS but Mirka want over 40 quid so I just take it steady with less pressure. With different woods with different hardness, if you press on with a softer pad you end up with high and low spots that correspond to the harder and softer woods.

It's now having its cracks and knots filled with resin. The resin is dyed a coffee colour to blend in. It will probably take another coat tomorrow, the first tends to sink into the burr quite a lot.

It's the youngest daughter's birthday next week. She wanted to go to an escape room, no chance of that at the moment so the eldest daughter is secretly creating one at home. But she needed 6 boxes that can be locked. After looking on the usual places, the cheapest option to get hinged boxes that are bigger than tobacco tins is to buy tea. So I ended up with 240 tea bags and 6 hinged tins.

5 have numeric locks, the 6th has a alphabetical lock. 6 cheap brass hasps and a few pop rivets later.

Morning Fellas not been here for a while.
This is the first thing I ever built since kitting out my little workshop.
Bought an RTech Mig 180 and got to work. Think I am gonna add something at each corner to level it a bit, plus the casters have a bit movement even when locked off, so will help stablilise it too. All in all I am fairly happy with it. My welds penetrate well just need more practice to make em look a bit prettier

I made this, a rusty mess, dug out from behind a leaking core plug in my Essex motor...
I then took all four accessible ones out and dug/washed a load more out, then used a stick magnet to get the rest out. Rust is magnetic, you know.

That was todays plan.

But this old Bulb Planters Trowel just kept getting in the way.;



So, to stop it getting in the way.



So I took it to bits. To get it ready to be cleaned up.



The steel was boiled up in Citric acid and cleaned with a scouring pad and metal polish.
Traditionally the metal should be painted.

Back in the day of big potting shed and green houses the colour dictated the job they were for. But there was no set stanadard.

The paint on the handle is a pain to remove. Machine sanding just spreads it, solvents just makes it soak into the handle. Only to seep out when a solvent stain is applied.
This was, back in the day, to stop them being "liberated" and sold on.

The old animal glue was removed by a scraper and a burr.



Back together.
Handle glued on with animal glue, the tin holds the old strong stuff. The handle is stained from use.
The blade was warmed and dipped into wax and buffed up.
The trowel is a nice old tool, almost a toy.
The steel is very good.

Brass plugs will not stop it.
But on an open engine like they can be polished up and look nice.

Ive been up in my sons loft to put a lid and lagging on his cold water tank , byelaw 30 kit , bit of pipe lagging all sorted , hes selling the flat and this was flagged up on surveyors report !

Might be worth getting the power washer in through the holes and give it a good blast out while the plugs are out, even a garden hose would do.
It's an awesome looking car

evans waterless coolant stops it and doesnt pressurise either as its got a much higher boiling point, great for classics
only down side...... when i bought some it was £12 a litre

Made a friend Happy this morning .
I've managed to make work again his big three phase 3hp radial arm saw .
Rewired from Y 380V to ∆ 220V configuration
Replaced wire harnesses , swapped the contactor with a 230V coil one
Used a 50μF run cap directly connected to the motor (so it will discharge once stopped the motor ) .
Started it up and tested it on some scrap wood .
It works ,my friend is happy , and I'm always happy when I work on three phase stuff .

Something to say it practically have soft start.
Being the capacitor always connected to the motor it requires time to charge (being practically shorted) , which translated in the motor starting slowly needing 10 seconds to reach full speed from completely stopped.
