Looks cold there, they do an expanding stuff that works okay if you can’t use explosives.

Yeah, Hitachi Building Systems makes one of them.

I have used that a couple of times when I couldn't drill holes large enough for the wedges.

Works great but slow, is commonly known as "snail dynamite" here

managed to cobble together two masks, one fixed front 9002D and a flip front 9002X with adflo. happy days indeed. the 9002X has a damaged solar panel on the filter but still works so thats a win.

not me, me and knurling don’t get along, every time I try and do it it just comes out rough. That could be in part due to the J&S knurling tool or because I’ve never worked out the correct dia.

Tip when making something that I want to knurl from my sketches /drawings before turning down to size . I'll usually make a trial aluminium piece first to get the right diameter to be turned.. once I've got it right I write it down , keep it safe & handy as I found out the hard way you're head is not a reliable recorder .

Record the best workable diameter in a handy workshop diary /wall chart etc. .

Have you thought of using fingernail emery boards?

Diamond impregnated nail files are also very handy as you can clean then in meths etc. and reuse them many many times plus the plastic handle is useful to grip , they are on the likes of Amazon or eBay for around £6 for two styles .

The pressure on the knurling tool would change as you moved along the taper which would change the appearance anyway, probably able to show that the knurls coincided or not though.

Edit: Turn the taper with an off set tail stock, that would sort out the pressure change with a push knurl but not a scissor knurl.

Surely it would be easier to turn fine multi start left & righthand threads on the taper ?

When bro in law Ged Flannagan was alive in the 1970's he made an 18 inch long ships cannons from phosphor bronze that fired 8 mmm steel ball bearings . The mounting frame was made of ash all the iron work was beautifully hand made . When fitted with four ships wheels it was well over 4 stone . At the time he was offered £600 for it but wouldn't sell , he did however make three identical ones for his workshop owner .
I never did get to take a photo of one but they were a true work of art .

We watched the video earlier and saw the pastry split and my mate said you need to use a brazing torch and a stick of dried spaghetti as a filler rod to fill the cracks

I quite enjoyed making this, shame it didn't work! 38mm hex, two 5mm holes for pins to dismantle an inner steering rack tie rod for re-shimming the play. A washer and nut hold it in place, another special tool should be used to hold the body but as it has three 1/4" slots I held it lightly in the lathe 3 jaw. It flexed my shiny new Snap On 24" breaker bar then sheared the pins.

Made this today for a friend, he is building a hardtail Hardley Driveable, or at least I think that is what the make is, certainly has an H and D for the initials

Bit out of practice with the Tig, not done any for a few months.

And I even put a wee slot so he can put a leather strap/buckle there to hold it in place, these Hardly Driveable people are weirdos

Also made a wee filter for the plasma table out of some stainless perforated sheet, my folding abilities are not that great but it will do the job.

The Arduino side is programmed, though i keep adding functions really i should just leave it as it is.


The load cell will be inside a case the eye distance will be shimmed this is to stop the load cell being overloaded

The eyes both have slots these will be to prevent unscrewing.

Its a load cell

As it deflects it puts out a differing voltage, this one can be loaded to 2000kg yet can still give a reading as low as 100g
