Fitted these today with the help of @anto44 . 8ft high and roughly 12,6 wide

Used new saw to chop plywood to length. It will replace the old cabinet top, raise the tool box up a bit and have 5 or so draws, allow me to have some chuck shelves and taper holders hanging on the side. Saw cuts well even if it is very under powered.

I am not sure best way of doing the joints for back, sides, top and bottom, welcome any suggestons!

Make a jig ...... big enough to clamp it and move it when required , set it along pre drawn pencil lines and use a router set to 1/3 of the thickness for simple grove joints . Draw it out too so you realise where a shouldered grove will be and where an open sided cut is going for the top & bottom shelve , glue & screw up in predrilled holes use a countersink to get the heads slightly below th surface .line all screw slots up in th same orientation . Mark l all screw positions before predrilling & countersinking whilst the wood is flat . After gluing up & screwing it together it becomes very very strong & the unconscious eye will recognise quality & skill in the lined up screws .

Working on a catapult, Da Vinci design. I am making two identical ones for my kids.

Don't have a wood lathe any more, so I am using my metal lathe to turn the dowel, it's quite nice for making accurate wooden parts. Covered the ways with some leather and used dust exctraction. I tihnk I could make a more effective dust extraction if I wanted to.

The design I am working from, not doing an exacty copy.

Welded (mig) together a trial aircraft tyre stand.
If there's green light to continue, then it will be cutting metal tommorow...
Aircraft tyres are required to be turned on a schedule, that's why it's on rollers.

This was last nights achievement. An offset hole.


All done automagically, after I finally read the manual and figured out how to activate C-axis mode, lock the spindle, and run the live tooling independently via G/M-codes.

Now that I'm gradually making more things with this lathe, I'm really appreciating the sales rep advising me to get the bigger model with 700mm of X travel, as 500mm travel would have really limited what I'm now doing.

Made a few more shelves and fitted them in the shop, now back home to be painted.

Cut wood using my hachet just after have razor sharpened its edge
First piece of wood chipped the edge .
Apparently the tree growth up around a piece of steel wire
Anyway it sliced through the steel like nothing but felt its density .
Raw linseed oil is dry ,on next Monday I'll apply little bit more
I've refresh the edge once finished but it's not razor sharp .
Tomorrow I'll try to sharpen it better
