Backing plate for a mechanical muncher that's being fitted to a PC800 , not a bad bit of freehand with the plasma , just welding it on to do now

Today I made some 5 inch box out of some 4 inch.
Why? Because I only need 6 inches of it and it's eaiser to make it than try and source it.
It's to repair a jack leg of a my mates Ford rubber wheeled digger.
I turned it into a bit of a practice piece, so I tried to keep it all in position with tig root and stick fill and cap.
Happy enough to show my fails here.
If I can get at it and I can see it, it's alright (not good but will probably hold ok)

The 100mm box is 8mm wall and I don't have any 8mm plate so I just used 10mm.
This is why I really respect proper welders.
You can kid yourself you can lay down a nice bead but when it gets awkward, all bets are off.
I needed to weld in a couple of bosses so off to the lathe.

Never tried, but is supposed to work, so got this job to fabricate some 25mm steel plate and gussets. So stuck it on the plasma and gave it a crack.
Didn't come out too bad and pretty straight.
and not too much taper.
There was however much sparks for the pierce and also much smoke during the cut
. So in conclusion 'it works' The plasma is a Hypertherm PM125 and Hypwtherm clearly state that this machine will pierce 25mm, so we have proven this correct. I believe that it would pierce 30mm, just need to extend the pierce delay a bit

A pair of speaker cables;
Certainly could just use bare stripped cables in binding posts but I'm a slut for circular locking connectors and I'm gonna be swapping them between a different speakers fairly often so I wanted to keep it all neat, a bit of heatshrink makes everything look more professional too. Not sure the audiophile stance on tinning cable ends, probably frowned upon.
I considered T&E at half the price but I really wanted flexible cables so I just got the proper stuff. I think I know what this clear insulation is all about too now, it's an optical illusion, it makes 2.5mm cable look like 6mm at a glance. It's also an absolute nightmare to strip.

Been working on a bit of a gate for home.
40x8 for the frame 16mm square for the other bits.
Using a locinox lock.
Just need to sort hinges, something for it to close against and some paint.
Did the outer frame with mig but have used Tig for the rest to try to stop any spatter in tricky to remove places.
The curved 16mm square is not quite right and has a bit of a "flat" in it.
The belt grinder has come in handy for a lot of bits.

Needed some light at the workbench. Found an old desk lamp and made a "adapter" from a M16 screw

No majot joint leeks.
But whistle needs seals and a strip. It leaks under pressure.
But on the whole it works well.
I have spares.
This home made unit.
I had it in bits. Main steam pipe was shot.
Broken at the piston connection. Kinked and a hint of some cracks.
So I replaced it.
I also cleaned the brass up, a lot.
Put it back together. Best way to stop loosing parts, is to keep it as a unit
It works, but needs a lot of TLC.

So pretty busy and productive day
Went to our family land in the woods , grass cutting .
A friend of us did most of the work
So I've spent the entire morning in the nature 6 hours of good fresh air , and nice 2strokes smoke
Talked with our friend for a small repair work on his truck .
Essentially he needs to weld new brackets for the fenders
Remove the old broken side locks on the rear.
Modify the new one ,which are meant to be fixed on the bed ,the old ones were removable to have a flat bed, but someone welded them .
New ones shall be welded onto the bed ,so I'll have to modify them ,to make them removable as the original ones .
Essentially I have to weld the lower part of the original ones to new columns .
Add two square plates to protect the locking mechanism for the alluminium sides.
Trim the sides because 1cm too long .
Add a piece of square tube on each column to accept a removable stiffener bar to prevent them to spread open when the truck is loaded with rubbles ,sand and things like such .
Repair a crack on the bed frame .
It's all 6mm thick steel ,it will be lovely to weld with 7018s
Surely something will end on the forum and probably on Instagram too
I might need to use my engine driven
Then he gave me tools for repair.
Started with his new Efco Stark 3810 , 2 fuel tanks of life .
A grass trimmer .
It needed some carb adjustments .
Essentially when new the adjustments are very rough and usually need tune up after breakdown ,also because the climate conditions will dictate the perfect air-fuel mix
So tuned it up and now instead of bogging it runs like a dirt bike
Then a cheap eBay long reach hedge trimmer , just a grass trimmer power head with an edge trimme attachment .
The two parts were stuck,I've managed to split them apart and now the connection works as it should.
Also had to replace the fuel lines because dry and brittle .
Then his Husqvarna 142 chainsaw ,I've just checked it ,it needs a new bulb pump .
I've tried to bypass it to allow him to use the chainsaw while waiting for the parts but the carb needs this little pump to keep fuel up to the correct pressure .
I'll call for parts on Monday, I'll probably replace the diaphragms to ensure everything will work right .
It's a small chainsaw but I've been surprised to see a double butterfly carburettor on it .
Then yesterday I've repaired a concrete mixer drill , nothing special it just split apart in two pieces while cleaning it,or at least that's what the customer said.
Found that all the bolts were missing ,so I've replaced them with Allen screw and locking washers , and to be sure I've applied also blue locktite thread locker .
Tomorrow I'll have to repair other two of those concrete mixers ,a circular saw and a 4½" angle grinder
I'm tired but also happy to have something to do
