Spent way to long, drank way to much coffee re-loading 3 computers and having workshop play time fun.
This Murphex Drain tester was acquired by me, as it was odd, different and quirky. The weather and time was not the units friend.
They say a picture paints a thousands words.
This is not the case.
The 2BA nits and bolts were very difficult. Heat and oil helped. The main cylinder lid was cross threaded and the basket leg was broken.
The cup washer and the one way valve leathers were solid and un flexible.
Snapped flush with the lid. But that did show how it was assembled. Threaded and then lead soldered into place.
The leg and lid was cleaned and silver soldered into place.
Note.
Clean the basket well. The heat reactivated what ever they last used.
Cleaned by hand.
Well clock cleaning solution.
Not worth it, unless you are doing a LOT" of brass. But on the large base you can see a old repair. Some time in the past the thread was sealed with lead solder.
Meant the One way valve needed a cunning plane to fix.
The old leather and cork seal in the valve was shot. It crumbled when removed.
A new rubber and brass washer was used to fix it.
Getting a new leather seal was not going to be easily done.
So, the old one was warmed with linseed oil and wax. It takes time. Heat it too quick oil boil the oil off, to slow and the wax does not work it's way in.
This was simmering for 2 hours, kept the workshop warm and smelling nice.
Finished.
The 2 valves on the outlet spout were striped and cleaned.
But does it work?
Will it pump smoke as a drain tester or steriliser as brewery pump?
Of course.

Needed somewhere to store the laptop in the new van for when I am working away as Fusion on the phone is not the best.
There is an Aux 12v socket in the back so it was the perfect place for the chargers so I made up a model in fusion.
I cut the parts out and welded up and then screwed it to the plywood lining of the van but it is pathetically thin, only 6mm and poor quality ply at that, so another plan had to be made.
I did some measuring and then cut this out on the plasma.
I then welded the tray to that and and fixed it over the plywood with self tappers right into the vans metalwork, it is much more solid.
I need to get something made to attach the adapter to and I should probably have incorporated something for a mouse as I detest touch pads

I have started to effect a repair on the lathe motor mount. I tried to get it welded but that didn't work out so I have machined some brackets and they are clamped ready to bolt on tomorrow

When I saw the pic I thought you were going to make a pedal for TIG.
May be able to do that , Not sure how the pedal gives out reading and if that could be adapted to a welding pedal.
Not that i even have a tig machine or any skill in the process

As cheap as chips and you don't even need to wait for it to swim from China.....
I have one of these for the laptop just a place to store it rather than use it was what I meant..

Finally finished the painting on my new aluminium end marker boards. (It's amazing how much you can't get done when you're only home at the weekend 
).
Painted in accordance with Construction and Use regulations, they just need finishing off with a couple of red marker lights and a hi-viz flashing led on each of them, then if anyone feels the need to run into whatever they're clamped to, it ain't my fault Constable...

Spent last week replacing timber facias and new guttering. Scaffold was a must as the soffits were 600mm.I am so slim it never does any damage
But yes i do have a wide stand off and a scaffold

I dislike ladders at the best of times.
Not the easiest to set up solo either.
Have a half width young man boss. Perfect for the task. Wheel down most side alleys.

There was Quite a few bits and pieces. Some Clarkson Autolock stuff, some Weldon holders and shell mill arbors. Some stuff is a bit dinged or has spun, some have been bored out or welded.
The seller is hanging on to some of the stuff, the clamping kit, some of the cutters etc.
