You are quite right. I can only use tiredness as my excuse for calling it a shovel.
I like to use the correct terms for things, and the correct spelling
Having been broken for 10 years or more I thought that it would be nice to get it in a usable state again

Not made by me. But my SO designed and had this play house built for our kids, put it up this week. Funny thing is, the guys who built it, one is an economist and the other an engineer with well paying day jobs, they just do this for fun and little extra money.
Still needs to be painted both inside and out.

Started 7 am, moved furniture, took tv down, and tv bracket, also curtains and blind, sugar washed wall, filled some cracks, painted two walls, let it dry, put everything back, 1 pm now.
Surprising what can be done when I put my mind to it.
Daughter will wake up soon, she is nocturnal nowadays, and she won’t even notice it’s been done.
I did the other two walls and the ceiling a few days ago.
Ps. I hate decorating, probably won’t get done again in this decade, but I don’t think it had been done since the place was built 30 years ago.

It's one of my failings, adding an extra l, g, sometimes an s. It's a Welsh thing, stil strugling to gett my headd around this English, damn difficult if you ask me.

Far too many vowels in English, you're not used to them
I spent a couple of years learning to speak, read and write Thai. 88 letters in their alphabet, including 32 vowels.
No spaces between words, no sentences either, just a bluuuuurbbb of letters.90% of Thais never learn to write their own language, many can't even sign their name.

Today I made my bead roller even more useful by adding an adjustable turntable so I could run circular beads with ease.

Not finished yet, but held together with clamps to try it out.
First efforts with the dies I had didn't work great as it was a better shear than a former
But after making a couple of new rounded corner dies it works a treat

I can remove the arm with the turntable and store it when not required so the machine can run beads as normal.
I need to get it properly welded up.
The box the arm slides into will be welded on as that will strengthens the frame even more.

If I think back to a stint at Plessey Beeston, they taught me how to lace wiring looms, but now I would have to re-learn it all again. And if doing it all old school there would be no PCB's in sight just some tag boards under the chassis. I may try something like that next.
Must move the audio transformers as they were only there for the picture, to much pick up from the mains transformer.

My Mad lady friend, in Israel, thought I needed a challenge to cheer me up (she was right)
I was only allowed 4 power tools, all day. Unlimited hand tools. No new stock or items.
No Metric items at all.
Make something Tidy.
Make something useful.
Fix something.
Restore something.
Power tools chosen.
Arc Welder.
Bench chop Saw.
DA Sander.
Router.
No beer until 6pm. Unlimited coffee.
Challenge 1 & 2
Make something Tidy.
Make something useful.
Not much left.
So, a coffee.
Then I saw this triple.
3 Black smiths Odd leg Vices.
They like to leap out and attack unsuspecting humans.
They have been there for a few years and needed some TLC.
2 needed a good going over with a wire brush and a lick of paint, but one needed a quick fix.
The top mount was a mess and the 2 wedges were as bad.
Oh yes, the nut and bolt was mangled.
The nut and bolt were cleaned up with a Thread File.
New wedges made and a top mount. The steel came from scrap pile.
The top mount was 2 parts welded together, hammered to give the look of age and to hide the bad welds.
The other 2 were painted with paint, plan was to be all black. but I ran out of black.
As you will see.

The challenge to make something.
Steel here is getting short, but I knew I had to many off cuts of hard wood.
So, one old drawer front, the frame from an Ikea Desk and some bits from my old back door. Salvaged screws from the drawers.
The chop saw, router and DA sander came to my rescue here.
The drill bits are imperial and the flat bit was made from welding on a bolt from the scrap pile onto the remains of the old wedges from the vice repair. Hand filed to an edge.
Tip, make sure both flats are equal.
Opps My bad.
Fixed to the wall, yes the holes were hand drilled, into the bricks.
With a hammer drill.
Here it is.
I also replaced the leather washers on all three.
