As you may have noticed in the pics there are two issues. First is I forgot to make a stop for the front gate so I have just used the old one for the time being. Second is I got silver Gibclosers because I was intending the gates to be blasted stainless, now they look out of place 
The one on the side gate won't matter as it is hardly seen but the one on the front looks odd. I think I will make up the stop and then dismantle one of the gibclosers and take them to the powder coater and get tham done the same as the gates.

One on the front looks better in stainless - it blends against the stonework better than black. If you do get it powder coated I think it'll stand out even more. Behave man, stuff doesn't go missing here we are not rogues@Hood I'm surprised you didn't reverse one hinge - they could both be 'Gone in 60 seconds'
I will however be inserting a couple of small stainless setscrews into the pins just in case any Highlanders are down this way.

today I made a little progress on the weather vane, but started to weld with the argon connected up, don't ask - I have no idea why/how. 
Anyway, got going with the main 'body' and wrapped up today's session with this [grass demanded cutting as it was 2.5 > 3" long. It's been so wet recently and Dopey had spread fertiliser just before the 40 days/nights started......

As is my wont no drawings etc and I only stop to take measurements when necessary - unusual, I admit, but it works for me

As many of you my know MIS is open to everyone.
One of the MIS I help out with has a few members who have "Issues." Since getting involved I have been shown a lot about depression and how it effects people. Also I am understanding a few others issues. Today I was helping 2 people, one with depression and the other who sometimes can't handle crowds. But doesn't want to be alone in a room.
Today we agreed they would both turn at my place for some fun.

Ok the coffee makings had to live outside.
What did we do, well it was an average of two, but a few other members came and went. Please bare in mind I amusing a walking stick and have a swollen mouth.
It was an early start, but why not. If the mind is willing.
This is how I got it. I am now looking for more stuff for others to have go at bringing back to life.
Cleaned up, yes power tools were used. but I know they can use them. Both peins were ground back to shape. The shaft hole had some nasty burrs. but a file soon had them away.
The plan was to heat and dip into oil. That plan worked. As you see a nice golden colour.
But fitting the shaft damaged the finish. Things learnt and a good laugh was had.
The shaft was shaped by hand tools and sand paper.
Double wedged and steeped in oil and wax.
Hand tools are Ok. But what if they want a challenge. Ok, may not be much of one to members here, but for people who never done fault finding on electrical parts?
AA issued Parking Light. Dead.
A few lessons on the use of a Multi-Meter I sat back sipped a coffee and did my thing.
I gave hints, but not the answers. I have spares and they were used to prove or disprove any ideas.
Successful. They found a blown lampo. How hard is it to order a new one? It was a 12v Screw fixing lamp.
Lamps give light, bulbs go in the ground.
Broken cable and corroded terminals.
3 coffee worth of time.
My bits.
Leather knife, rusty, dull and the rivets not tight.
Rivets tightened up, wood cleaned and waxed. The blade took a mean edge, it cuts paper with no effort and cleanly.
New MIS Door bell. Just over 100Db. I think that will be heard over machinery.

I made space today in a shed my Father built from reclaimed WW2 wooden buildings back in the 80s. He built a concrete base first around the cast iron bath from our house. The roof went through some years ago and needed replacing, the bath ended up full of water and a lot of the stuff stored in there was ruined but has been dry as a bone since.
