Yeah buddy been doing it for the last 4 years

This one was gas axed to length by us by hand and all the slots gases by us and plates slide through we have done bigger one but at 3.6 tonnes it's a fair lump

Did a load of it years ago when there was a power station built here. I found it ok to do.

It's ok but as a newly starting out in welding and fabrication I'm getting a little stagnant looking to develop different skills this year

This afternoon it got real cold out side so I returned to the warm shop a knocked up a cranking handle for my mill as it had one missing

So this is the one I meant to post here. The second nephew has his naming day (non religious thing) this weekend so I finished this today for him. Black walnut for the handle, bought high carbon Damascus blade. Got a sheath in the works using Muhuhu and ebony if I get it shaped tomorrow.

Finished the sheath today, Muhuhu with an Ebony cap.

Today I made quite a few bits and pieces but they were taken away before I could grab a pic of them except for this, a liferaft holder. Have another 2 to make for their other two cats but one will have to wait as it doesn't have a registration number due to Cardiff being too busy

I had to defrost the plasma before I could chop out these bits, the air cylinder for the probe was solid and there was a load of ice on the linear rails, worst thing about it living in a steel container I suppose.

Got it tacked up.

I was going to tig it but as it was after 4:30 I decided just to mig it instead. Did all of the outside corners vertical up as it was easier to balance on the vice that way and the Phoenix makes life easy for positional welds.

Finished.

Earlier on I decided to give the housing, for the lathes new controller, a paint. I hate painting, I am terrible at it and I should have waited until a warmer day (workshop has been -1°c all day) Might sand it down and give it another coat but knowing me I won't

Finish doesn't look too bad, I think you're a bit hard on yourself . It's not a Ferrari, after all....

It is 2 pack so should still go off but it was too thick and I don't have suitable thinners and add to that that I am impatient when it comes to painting so don't prep things properly
