@Richard. How many baffles on the inside of the tank, I had one made or me some years ago for my kit car, had two baffles fitted to help prevent sloshing and some fuel starvation when taking bends. Also had a section welded on the inside where i was going to mount a fuel gauge, it enabled me to drill and tap as getting nuts on the inside was going to be impossible.

All taken care of there is brackets on the side to strap them down the intension is to put the MIG TIG and plasma on then the little too tray at the back and underneath hold the consumables in plastic boxes

That's it totally finished I think and all straped down

3 vertical full size baffles in it with 5 x 20mm holes in a line at the bottom of each one. I’ve tacked them in all 4 sides. They stop slosh but they also give rigidity.

Nice, the capacity is 10 litres more than my little kit car one, so for me range can get a bit low before i have to refill, I guess the baffles also stop drumming to a large extent and as you say add rigidity.

Lovely job, I know where to try when i need another tank doing.

One of the reasons for my post on Powder coating elsewhere was I did more on my clock. I did not like the hand cut ball of wool so spent time on the cad bit again cut some back's and a try at another face in a different colour.

So this is it for me this week until weekend comes around again.


I also finished my Miserable Old Gits thing.


So I had a lot of clear up to do.

Just to put my comment in context.

I like the stuff I do otherwise I would not do it, but all said and done this is a welding forum which was the main reason I joined, to gain knowledge of welding, to see other examples of welding and what some do on a daily basis. Learn from the example of others.

Yes this is in a metal forming category, so it is all acceptable, but I feel, shall I say more respect and admiration, seeing pictures of other work that includes welding fabrication etc. especially when there is some explanation. of the process, type of gear used, means of overcoming obstacles etc.

A good looking garden gate, welding up a boat, Paul's stainless steel work, that type of thing to me puts my simple stuff cut from a CNC in the shade and long may it do so.

You built the cnc yourself though Adrian. That’s admirable imo. I certainly wouldn’t know where to start. I could make the structure and the table but that’s about it.
The things I admire are when people turn out fantasticly finished and beautifully accurate work on a manual lathe. Unfortunately on here we see more pictures of lathes than we do the work they produce, @optima21 is a lathe hero. He puts out some really admirable work imo.

@optima21 is just a hero full stop. He comes up with some nice solutions to problems, but most importantly he shares his knowledge freely and details where he gets all the bits n bobs from so we can all follow suit if required.

I would try it myself first, spend days on it then give up and go out for it,. Tig, Aluminium and me do not get on. Yet.

Richard, I think I was trying to say it's a welding forum, that should be why I come here, but I appreciate and admire the work that is done by many on here, mainly because it is what I class as real life engineering, I am not into model trains, tried a club once and after listening to a talk about the colours of different lines carriages I never ventured past the door again.

I like welding but have done very little recently as I concentrate on this plasma stuff.

thats the funny thing about this place, I wish I could weld like some of the professionals on here, but Im not to that standard (and probably never will be). We all have a variety of skills and interests and contribute to the content. we have people people who are amateurs on here (like me) who make it up as we go along and professionals who know their stuff (like you).

we should be proud of what we are able to do and what we can add to the mix. I think most of us like someone who has an idea, develops it and makes something that works, thats the sort of thing I find inspiring (like you say about Adrian or Hood). If there was just welding content on here, I don't think I'd be posting as much on here.

shhh don't tell anyone, but I use this forum like a notepad.....so that I can remember what Ive done and how I did it....if I used a notepad I'd have lost it sooner or later. also it takes me a while to work out what Im doing and where to source things from, sometimes that takes longer than doing the job itself

no offense here but what ya cant do via welding is not a shine on what you can do with that hobbymat lathe and hobbymat milling machine that some of us might quote a bag of rubbish its only for amateurs what you produce on it some of us would love to be able to get too

even richard found out that myford 10 is a very capable machine even though many was saying leave it alone get a bigger machine

Spot on chaps Stinking air cooled Deutz, it ingested some stones through the fan chewing it up which in turn cooked the engine. New barrels, pistons, fan, gaskets, height shims and filters

A few studs broke off flush with the block, all done off a ladder because I could not be bothered to remove the engine.

I wanted to get some experience machining stainless on the Myford while at the same time making something useful:

Ruined a couple of drill bits and a slitting saw but I learned a lot.

What is it actually for? I see what I think is part of a revolver pistol but what it is doing I am unsure.

Stainless is easy enough once you get into the swing of it but I have memories of many a burnt up milling cutter whilst I was learning

It's a loading press for muzzle loading revolvers. It's much faster to use than the under-barrel ramrods, which are often too short to get good leverage or may not even be fitted.
