..... puts my simple stuff cut from a CNC in the shade and long may it do so.

Nothing simple about CNC stuff, plasma being one that takes a lot of time and effort getting into the way of working it.
Same for CNC lathes and Mills, everyone thinks it is press a button and let it go but you have to think about the sequence you will do things in, the clearances of tools when changing etc etc

made a mess today, wife's car gone into limp home mode, dpf ash accumulation full, cut th hr bottom out of filter and clean out with pressure washer, weld it back up, reset values and back on the road. lasted 101k before all the Regens blocked it.

would prob try the same if it came to the crunch, was talking to an mot inspector yesterday, he says new rules say they have to look for this having been done and if they are at all in any doubt of it being tampered with it is an automatic fail?

Yes but if you added a nicely shaped heat shield that covered the "affected area's" then would have to look bloody hard,

As the mot testing guide says, if can't be seen then have to "pass and advise"

Gates fitted last week.
Had to "adjust" one bottom hinge on a post as there was a bit too much overlap in the middle.
The galvanisers had also snapped off a latch bracket which i didn't notice till the end as they had powder coated over it. Made up a new bracket to bolt on and fitted a day or so later.

Made some stanchion bases for a handrail that will be fitted to the gunwale of a Cheetah Cat that will be arriving later in the year.

Chopped off some slices from 90mm Dia 316 on the saw.

Bored out some soft jaws on the Forkard chuck.

Faced one side.

Birled it around and faced, chamfered, drilled and tapped the second side.

Repeated 7 more times. The raised part is for locating the stanchion for easy positioning when welding

spun them on to a m12 for safe keeping until they are needed, now I only have to remember where I put one instead of all eight

Not quite today but in the last weeks i have been building a welding trolley to hold 3 machines today after problems with some wrong couloured paint yestetday i have managed to get it sprayed in a acceptable coulour all i have lwfr to do now is fit the casters on the front and the alloy bases for things to sit on and the job is done

EDIT: Make sure the machine at top level is well secured, in case the trolley gets a knock and it launches itself to the floor with predictable results.

All taken care of there is brackets on the side to strap them down the intension is to put the MIG TIG and plasma on then the little too tray at the back and underneath hold the consumables in plastic boxes

made a slightly longer base for the tool post for my lathe. the new one is on the left, and a new operating cam (with a ratcheting handle)

and the new lever operated cam compared to the old one (which started life as M8 cap head bolt). the ratcheting handles are cheap enough off ebay

I thought it would be a neat solution to using an allen key with the cap head screw as the handle can be moved out of the way.

.......but then realised that with the new handle in place you cant change the tool holder,

so the original one is being used again

^^^^^^^i thought i had done well today had an hour to waste my son got a mini moto needed ajustmants to the coil one come undone the other was rounded

now seen on here people welding a bolt to a bit and then undoing it

my turn got it set up welded a nut on bit of heat to the area of the alliminium and got it out yea sent a pic to my son he was well happy i made the ajustmants and put back together before putting back the pull start i turned the fly wheel to see if i had made the ajustments right and the nut i had welded on fouled on the fins and would not let it spin i had to remove the new welded nut and shave it and cut a slot so i could use a screw driver to install the coil yes a temp fix and will put a new bolt in but did not have one that fits will have to order one

Customer has specified some decals for the back so I need to see my sticker guy and give her a few coats of clear.
It’s a 35 ltr fuel tank for a trike.
It was lovely to get a proper dimensional drawing for a change instead of countless phone call checks.

We did talk levels we also talked about finishes. It was down to getting the best for the price. I wanted to polish it up originally but the time with limited tooling was going to put the cost right up so we went we a coat instead. As for the level he should get roughly 200 miles between refills and you can see the level quite clearly when it’s open. It’s fitted out with 3 vertical baffles inside.

I’ll be honest and I’m not pulling your leg here but those welds serve a purpose and are providing a fully water tight seal. They ain’t that attractive by my own personal standards. I was using 1050 sheet and it is a bugga for moving and opening up mid weld even with a million tacks it does open up and the weld appearance does show. Had I used a harder less workable grade it would of remained a tight joint and welded neater. However I would of needed to heat treat to fold it so I went 1050.
