Made mine longer than all my cars - I had got fed up with having to crawl under the car and roll into the pit, or having only part of the car over the pit at the last house . . .

Then I bought a longer car . . .

I'm lucky I guess, Mine is a very late Mk3!

Depends on your POV, long shafts are simpler and cheaper to maintain but Rotoflex rears are supposed to have better handling characteristics but are harder and more expensive to maintain

I've had both, last was a Spitfire with a 2.5 Pi out of a TR6, that was on long shafts and I tried various rear springs and shocks to get it to handle the way I wanted

Getting sick of looking at the rust growing on the tool bracket, will be dipping the tool holders in citric acid but even if I did the bracket it would need painted and would be rusting again in no time as it is right at the door and the sea is 5m away

So a bit of 8mm aluminium onto the plasma, a bit of heavy wall pipe milled for dogs and a bit of 4 inch pipe split and some welding and now I have a new bracket.

And a mess after cutting some steel, tacking some steel and then using a slitting disc to separate them all again... it didn't go as anticipated!

I tried plastering the OSB panels under the stairs. Twice. Both mixes set well before I could get 10% up. Gave up scraped it off.
It'll be wallpapered instead of painted.

Is there a food thread? Deep fried some chicken thigh in the new wok, sauce is 2 diced chillies, 1/3 diced onion, soy, sriracha and a lime. Beats anything the local take aways can offer!

Today the 45 degree neck for the push pull arrived so seeing as how I was at a loose end waiting for material to arrive I got onto Fusion.

Drew this up.

Then sorted for getting the code.

Then gathered the cut parts and stuck it together with the Mig.

It will take me longer to gather all the drills etc together than it did to make it.

So progressing with the log grab,made 2 eye plates,46mm hole,here’s the second one,waiting on a length of en24t for a pin now,hope it’s not on the “Evergiven” or it’ll be EVERSLOW.

Seeing as how I got the oversize ER40 collets today I was able to do the middle part for the rail hinges.

Whilst the Chiron was doing them I started sorting out some drills, looks like I am going to have to make another one, have quite a few MT3 and MT2 to sort yet but I can't believe how many MT1's I have. Now I just have to work out where I have space in the workshop to put another drill stand

Tidying up my truck rear light board, got sick of chasing wiring faults so started again.

Well, one new diode later and we appear to be in business...maybe. I cheated and just put new inline crimps on.

Speed control works etc but with it set on speed 1 all 3 "traffic light" LEDs come on. Get to about speed 3 and one led turns off. I'd have expected the lights to come on one by one as the speed increases. Tbh at full pelt, speed 6, it's uncontrollable and uncomfortable, it vibrates that much. I've not yet changed the MOSFET.

finished the steelwork
all welded up..

holes drilled to take bolts the nuts welded on top are temporary...

level being set with the bolts..

4x pieces of 2" box for the corners to be welded in, the floor can then be poured and the bolts cut off flush and puddle welded. once thats done and ground flat, the bolts will permanantly anchour it into the concrete and leave a flat surface to run the jack on..


will be structurally finished tomorrow. then just electrics and ladders or steps.. depending on what i decide.

It's Ok to admit you've turned the corner and started to tidy up a bit

Drilled and tapped 3 holes in this plate and pushed the old spindle bearing off. Might start reassembling tomorrow.
