What is the shiny one middle top? A lot of the others look like spalted ash, and a couple of sycamore/maple ones at the bottom??

Most are spalted beech, third from bottom on left is plain beech, the one at middle top is (I think) ash* and the bottom two are sycamore.
* But I have an inkling its actually another hardwood whose name escapes me but I'll suddenly recall at a random time... they were all in a box I hadn't opened since after a craft fair a year ago!
EDIT: It's laburnum! Top middle and the wee one nestling in at the bottom.

you need to start laying the tiles in full runs , if the ends are slightly out of square you'll not end up with straight lines which you'll not see till the floors complete . Lay full runs the check every third or forth row with a straight edge/ line /laser then you can adjust accordingly while the adhesive is still wet
Started fully welding the manifold... It's taken me a month to get a new bottle of gas. Welded the flanges from inside the pipe... No idea if that's the right way? It's what I've seen on a lot of headers so I assumed so. I won't show you the other end as it's a right mess

You should because if there's an issue with the weld someone will pick up on it and advise you accordinglyI won't show you the other end as it's a right mess
You can then rectify your mistake before you move on.

My only question being - why would anyone try to cut through a hardened padlock hoop, when cutting the bar, or its retaining loop and pivot would be so much easier and quicker?

Its getting replaced!Deterrent mainly.
Cutting the loop,still keeps the latch attached,you’d have to remove the rivet,or cut thru the latch,and access will be difficult,so I wanted to protect the easier option.
