Yea I know.
Used to work in the body shop repairing transits. Any wing job ment removing the mirrors.

Had a few double length 3/16 drill bits so could drill them and knock in a 30torx to unwind the mirror if it was still good.

If the mirror was damaged just used to break the plastics off and drill easier.

Hi everyone
Today I've awakened from the hibernation my engine driven welder to get it prepared for the next Saturday for a job.
So took it out its little house , removed the rag that I use to protect it from the dust.
Inflated the tires and cleaned from the dust .
Add oil to the engine to reach the maximum level (small leak on a copper washer) .
Opened the fuel valve , purged the carburettor bowl ,choke , pulled the recoil and it started on second pull as always does .
Old gasoline
Let it run for 5 minutes at idle ,shut off the fuel valve and let it die.
Tomorrow I'll buy fresh fuel and make practice little bit to remember the current settings .
Ps I'm still amazed about how my GenSet was prior to restore it .
It was ugly with very old sockets , scratched paint , broken exhaust and other broken parts ,it was also really noisy even after a friend of mine welded the exhaust manifold .
But after changed the oil ,put a sponge air filter, and used high temperature caulking between the exhaust joints it's enough silent to sit next to it .

Another improvement to the ikea duktig. There’s door contacts on the 2 glass doors and they trigger different sequences which can be varied when he gets bored of them. Bit trippy at the moment but it got a ‘Woaw ’ which is what counts.

Little bit of practice vertical up with my engine driven welder
From right to left
Notice it's an 8mm plate I didn't grind anything .
Found the sweet spot just a tack under the 200V on the voltmeter (my GenSet has a voltmeter to read the auxiliary power output on the single phase outlet).
Things I've noticed my electrodes need baking
Anyway from right to left
6013

The L shaped weld is 7018.
No undercut just moving little bit slow but enough good looking .
The vertical up welds I have to perform are not structural so as this ones on the left are enough
I can increase little bit the current , change little bit the angle and move little bit faster .
But as said it's enough good .

Some of todays things.
First off a pair of hauler plates.

First I clocked it on the lathe.

After a pass you can see the uneven wear on the tapered part.

Next pass cleaned it up.

And both ready for collection.

I then made a housing for a pintle bush.

And alongside the original that was 5mm out of round. Once welded to a plate I will skim the bore and then make an Acetal bush.

I also turned up a piece of Acetal with an M30 x 2 thread.

It is for this

For holding this whilst in transit as I am not keen on it rolling about in the back of the van.

And finally a pic of it attached to the aluminium plate I put in the side of the van a few weeks ago.

I don't think that's off an angry grinder, more like a dust shield for a drill or tile 'persuader off' thingy?

It is the cordless grinder, I use it with a hook and loop sanding pad, and 60 grit to get the old grout and rotten plaster off. So much dust I couldnt see!
I dont use it without the guard on cutting or grinding discs, well once with a continious diamond blade, but never with normal discs.

Evenings progress, tiling.

And now having my dinner, steak and chips
