Still on the lookout for something different, 6 months of bulkers was fun, had to find farms out in the sticks down lanes you wouldn’t take a car.
Sorry, feeling happier than normal at the moment. Seem to have passed through an invisible barrier at work and finally getting some Scottish loads. Had 2 runs to Edinburgh lately and off to Dingwall on Monday with one of three loads of rail (60' bullhead. Awful stuff, like to trying to lift wet spaghetti
), and another drop near the Kelpies at Falkirk. No matter how often I see them they still take my breath away
.
Onion job was interesting as there were a few bits of kits to take down and bring back, then all the onions.
Flats would be nice to get back on to, but there isn’t much going locally. Well, not for decent money! Had one chap desperate for a new Scania Pilot, to discover he only wanted to pay £9.20 an hour.

That's unexpected
Always thought snap-on has been always a top brand
As part of a BIG clear out (the bin men will definitely earn their wages for the next few weeks 
) I now have 2 benches I can use:
And the one which will soon be replaced by a bespoke welding bench has the marker boards sporting their white gloss top coat:
And inspired by @selectedgrub 's Dad's vice, I finally got round to bolting down my Dad's old vice. Not sure how I'll cope with being able to do a job properly...
And yes, there's more for the bin behind it.

he always refers to them as overpriced
personally I like the lifetime warranty and the fact Iv worn a Halfords 8mm 1/4 socket and my snapon one still works is testament to them

Today (well yesterday) I made a hinge for the "deflector" from the sunroof on the alfa I'm doing up.
I've looked at this a few times and couldn't see an easy way of doing it.
It's plastic and as rare as a rare thing.
This is what I needed after a soak in citric acid
I'm trying to reuse what I can but the broken bits had disappeared a long time ago.
However there is one on the other side I can copy.
OK, maybe I don't want an exact copy, but at least its something to go on.
I don't have a 3d printer and I'm not sure it would work, so went with metal. (a stainless wall tie to be precise.)
Then made a 3.5mm dia stainless pin out of a 6mm setscrew.
With that done I could sort the good hinge by cutting the old rotten pin.
Which softened the plastic and let the rest out but not before melting the holes a bit oversize.
I drilled out the plastic to 4mm and made another oversized stainless pin to suit.
Filed and dressed the stainless hinge to match the plastic one and held it in place with a bit of 0,8mm stainless and a countersunk m4 set screw in lieu of the plastic clip.
With a lick of paint I think it will look ok but that was a remarkable amount of work for very little effect.
However it's great having a lathe, I don't know how I managed all these years without one.

I really like that. Something I would like to have a go at but it wouldn't look as good as yours!Been tripping over this piston for a few years.........sometimes it's just nice to mess about for 1/2hour....dont think I'd make a professional sculptor
