The handles are actually peened on, there is a washer on the ends of the handles and the tangs go all the way through the handles and were peened over the washer to prevent the handles from coming loose. That was the factory design.

I would say this type of drawknife is meant mainly for debarking trees. Around 2 minutes one can see it used by an old pro:

I previously made a swing frame - when the lockdown happened I couldn’t get one ready-made so did it myself with posts and some bad welding.

Today’s addition was replacing the kids swings with one for me to use when the weathers good. Pretty happy with how it turned out. £50 B&Q bench with added cross bracing back and bottom, stainless eye bolts and 3D printed guy line widgets to adjust the height.

make yourself a double skin and fill between them a mix of lead shots, aluminium nuggets or swarf, broken carbide and concrete to make a pretty much undrillable and uncuttable wall.

Inner skin next, thinking of filling it with course alumina oxide grit from work. I’m sure it will take the edge off most drill bits

Made a start on a pair of roof bars for my series 3 landy, been meening to do it for ages, galv plate ends and 25mm box for the bars, wont be taking much load so will do the trick, next is to make some fixings to clamp it in place.

Managed to get the neck back on the boat trailer today, all aligned ok and started to weld it up. Over sixty inches of weld in each triangulation.
