Cobblers Hammer, as I got it.
I knew it needed work,
So first job, remove the shaft.
Simple task, remove 5 staples and 1 nail. Then it fell off.
Modify a shaft @slim_boy_fat take note.
As the head and few more bits get de-rusted.
24vdc, max current draw was 3.73amps.
Plus it was heated as well.
Clean the head, the peins were not to bad, the side cheeks had lots of dings.
They were dressed out and sanded back.
Brush primmer, not using it again. it was total tosh.
Finished, paint has to harden.
But job done.

Had to remove a lock today, so I took my " new to me" Roebuck hammer.
Now I new the shafted need, what I thought was a sand up to remove a few dings.
I did not expected to the spilt on the first heavy blow.
So home.
Remove remains of old shaft, wax the new(shop brought kit) and dip head in hot caustic soda.
Paint, fix shaft to head.
The kit comes with a wooden wedge and 2 pack glue. Cheaper than the American kit I have used in the past. Lets see if it is any good.
Now I new the shafted need, what I thought was a sand up to remove a few dings.

A few more items ran through the de-rusting tank
Plumb Bob.
Cleaned up, new drilled bolt and new sting.
This was heated up and dipped in clean oil to seal it and see if that will prevent rust.
Silver yes, hall marks say it is, but did not polish well.
American made Saw set, candidate for blackening.
Unknown dust magnet.

Storm Lantern.
What a joy to work on.
As I got it.
Seized tight, but the wick adjuster still worked.
A bit of fuel.
Terrible flame, uneven, sooty and not burning evenly across its width.
Spot the clean bit.
Scotch bright and water,
The glass was removed an cleaned in vinegar and old news paper.
It came up a treat.
Mix of 1tbls of washing soda to 1lt of water.
Straight from the tank, didn't look good I must admit
Bit like the Curets egg.
But a quick going over with brown scotch-brite and wire wool it came up nice with little work
New. old stock wick.
I had 2 small soldering jobs, but a old style copper iron, Yorkshire flux and it went well.
I was surprized how well the old copper iron held the heat and allowed the new solder to run.
Should of done that on the Mamod.

Try scrunching up [technical term there
] some cooking foil and putting it in a solution of soda crystals made with hot water. Then put you spoon in there and leave it for a few minutes while if fizzes away.Spoon should come out all silvery looking again.

Got a bit more done this afternoon.
This morning I drew up the mounting for the motor and the belt tensioner, seen in Yellow and Blue in the following pic.
I cut the parts on the plasma and then put onto the Chiron to mill out the holes to the final dimensions.

Made this over the last few days - helps my migraine and de-stresses me!
Detachable winch post. Winch at the top is socketed - will make up some locking pins.
Sealey winch is heavy and well made.
Note the post butting up against the frame. There will be a pin through there as well.

Was actually quite productive today.
First got angry at this perpetual mess
So i made this frame to bolt onto one of my trestles, holds 4 grinders and bracket for a 4-way extension. It's a bit rubbish, made from what was laying around, but it does what i need for now. Quick tidy up of some clamps too.
Then a piece of flat bar and some hooks, bolted to my other trestle to hold ground leads, cables and hoses.
Still more tidying to do, need to get some steel stock and start making my proper work benches and storage racks. The garage is pretty cramped!
