Made a housing with seal and oilite bush from Acetal, it is for a finning machine.

Pic with shaft and blade inserted.

Made another deck wash fitting.

I polished this one while I was waiting on the plasma cutting some Alu.

The Alu was for 2 donkey engine boxes.

My new folder had a broken link arm. Nothing clever and looks over kill but I didn’t want to waste time chomping off metal that could stay there. 1/2” key way, bolt is just retainer as original

Was a right pain to make this as it needed to clear of the windscreen wiper and the boom not only comes up but slews 90 degrees to the left and 45 to the right so can end up touching bits hence the cut outs

Today I made a 1. 3/4" dia f51 duplex shaft into a 42mm dia shaft, well almost anyway.

The shaft was turned down for 1m of its length, my lathe doesn't turn true over that length due to the lathe needing levelled and I got sick fed up of levelling it a long time ago due to the floor in the workshop constantly moving, it is hollow underneath the concrete in parts and after a week or so the level of the lathe has changed enough to knock it out. The first cut was taken and over the 1m length there was 0.7mm difference but as it is a CNC it is fairly easy to programme out any taper.

This was the end results, 0.001mm under at the chuck end and 0.003mm under at the tailstock end, plenty good enough for a rudder shaft

Yes, more or less.The tools are all set up in the tool table so the control knows where they are or at least very close. So when I take a cut I can then measure the diameter either end and say it is 1mm bigger at the chuck end then all I need to do for the next cut is tell the control to move the distance in Z for the next pass but increase the end point by 1mm, so for example
GOX42Z2 (rapid move the tool to 2mm from the end and at 42mm diameter)
G1 Z-1020x43f0.15 (starts feeding at 0.15mm per rev and over the distance of 1020mm it will increase the diameter by 1mm)

Edit, should have been 1mm smaller at the chuck end.

It’s s bit like how you can grid calibrate a milling machine to near jig borer positional accuracy even though most cnc mills are not made close. The magic of computers

Not made but I took my jetski apart yesterday to se why the engine made a bang and locked up on Sunday what do you think a bit of jb weld or ducktape

The lintel was cracked years ago but no one worried about that as it was all covered up. Looks a bit better with some metal under it, and there's somewhere for the tools now. Needs a bit of tidying up and a plate making for the flue now, but its getting there.

Never a good sign when the internals become external, bit of a push for JB Weld and /or Ducktape.

Sadly it is what's worse is it was only serviced 5 hours ago and it's only 6 months old

Na eBay would refund the buyer luckily for me it's still in warranty as the engine on it's own is 4K to replace plus the bottom hull as the rod punctured it is nearly 2k

Got back to the workshop at 3pm today and measured, did a model and then coded for a rudder then onto the plasma with some 10mm thick steel and cut it out.

Waiting on some 50mm dia bright bar so can't get it welded up yet so decided to get some Aluminium cut for the control panel for the SZGH CNC controller I just bought for the lathe.

Got it welded up.

The back plate fits in and will be fixed with a few screws so that I can get access for connecting things up.

Got the front face and edges cleaned up but time was marching on so have not got as far as doing the sides.

Next job will be welding on the hinge and then getting it etched and painted.
