It's the Dairy Book of Home Cooking first put out by The Milk Marketing board. Every Mum had a copy when I was a kid. Mind we had a milkman back then.

So Nina's landy has a new (2nd hand) engine in it but the dude replaced the mk1 tdi with a mk2 and bodged all the pipework in. When we came to fit a new slightly longer altenator to it we found there was no space to refit the air inlet hose to the turbo and the guy had crushed the (reinforced) hose to fit it on. Well that won't do and anyway there was even less space now. So out with the drawing pencils and sketch up a box to realign things, a trip to one of the local fabricators for some ss off cuts and a little engineering later i made this:
One side clamps to the turbo and the hose connects just under the altenator. Here's it fitted. Hopefully you can see the problem and solution:
That's it, just behind the altenator. I didn't have much space, so it still might restrict the air a little but better than a hose crushed flat. Did i say i really like 312 rods? They run beautifully, one corner has a little inclusion but it seems to do the job.

I new that old Range rover battery strap would come in useful one day (I sold the Rangie in 2009).

I finally got around to replacing the handle on a cast iron dish my mum broke last year.
Lower profile than the original, complete with machining marks because the garage was absolutely bloody freezing and my toes would have dropped off had I stayed out there to dress it up further.

The Mrs's BMW had the water pump start to fail, simple enough to swap out only hitch the coolant required vacuum filling.
Cheap tool ordered it didn't arrive the day I fitted the pump, I was then away for 3 days.
Today I refilled it, firstly wow it draws a vacuum fast, secondly once shut off you can confirm no leaks and thirdly it refills cleanly with no spillages.
Drawn down to BMW spec.
Hoses all pulled flat.
Car ran to temp, then test drove for 40mins no movement on the water level.
Superb, will use this almost exclusively now I think.

As well as the cam mentioned above, also have a look at the drum / shoes to get the best possible contact area and the lever ratios for pedal and drum ends of the brake.

Thanks Richard M (and Farside). Cams symmetrical as are the shoes. It’s a C15 trials with D7 Bantam hubs so the front is also SLS. Think I’ve got the geometry sussed. I’ll see how the shoes bed in and go from there. I’m also changing the arm on the brake pedal. The original (DIY) arrangement had the pedal pivot and pedal to rod joint in line with the rod as well as a slow bend in the rod to get round the shock. Pedal went down about 6” before it did anything. Nearly went into the front of a car a while back as we were both going a bit too quick down a narrow lane. Prioritising getting the brakes to work as well as I can over any trials riding consideration.

Is there enough clearance between the new arm and the chain adjuster ? Probably but looks close.
Just noticed that you will be riding it in trials, the reason for it to be routed above the swinging arm is to avoid contact with the sections and get damaged . Not a good idea to lower it IME.
Also I never felt the need for a good rear brake anyway especially off road but that is really a personal thing , Thinks! I never used one when road racing either ,too many other controls to worry about.
