My mum used to make those too. Gotta love an almond slice or even a Bakewell. That cookbook even looks vaguely familiar.
If anybody wants a nice cookie recipe I can recommend the Pret a Manger one:

As well as the cam mentioned above, also have a look at the drum / shoes to get the best possible contact area and the lever ratios for pedal and drum ends of the brake.A new rear brake arm for my old BSA 250. doing everything I can to make the brakes better and the old arm went up (out of the way) which meant the brake rod had to bend round the shock. I’ve seen some like this so thought I’d swap it over .

Thanks Richard M (and Farside). Cams symmetrical as are the shoes. It’s a C15 trials with D7 Bantam hubs so the front is also SLS. Think I’ve got the geometry sussed. I’ll see how the shoes bed in and go from there. I’m also changing the arm on the brake pedal. The original (DIY) arrangement had the pedal pivot and pedal to rod joint in line with the rod as well as a slow bend in the rod to get round the shock. Pedal went down about 6” before it did anything. Nearly went into the front of a car a while back as we were both going a bit too quick down a narrow lane. Prioritising getting the brakes to work as well as I can over any trials riding consideration. As well as the cam mentioned above, also have a look at the drum / shoes to get the best possible contact area and the lever ratios for pedal and drum ends of the brake.
TLS front brake?
Is there enough clearance between the new arm and the chain adjuster ? Probably but looks close.A new rear brake arm for my old BSA 250. doing everything I can to make the brakes better and the old arm went up (out of the way) which meant the brake rod had to bend round the shock.
