A couple of stepped pulleys to suit TB2 poly vee belt

Good for 1HP at 10,000 RPM (on paper , at least…)

Today I made a bigger tool post for my shaper so I can use shaper tool holders instead of just bits of tool steel.

Untill a few weeks ago I didn't even know there was such a thing, but you learn something everyday on here.

The existing tool holder was too short to modify and I didn't want to butcher it anyway.
I could just cut down the tool holders, but if I didn't like making things more complicated than they need to be, I probably shouldn't be on this forum anyway.

Started with an off cut of inch and a half round bar from the scrap bin.
In hind sight it could have done with being half and inch longer.
Anyway turned it down to fit the clapper box and drilled and tapped it M10.

Turned it around and finished turning it to size.

Then drilled a few holes (badly) to remove some material for the toolholder.
Cut between the holes with a hacksaw.

Then cleaned up the mess with a die grinder and file.

The slot is far from perfect but it should do the job.

I keep looking every so often for a M300 travelling steady in the vain hope that a reasonable price one has popped up on eBay etc, sadly not

The only thing I am missing but I might just set to and fabricate one, maybe. You are not the only person looking for one.

For the first time since becoming sick at the end of May last year I have stepped into the workshop. These spacers may not seem to be a lot but believe me they are a major step for me.
I won't show my setup as it will upset the more safety conscious but as I can't stand for long or use my hands properly I had to improvise.

Good for you. I know how hard this is and I am painfully aware of the struggle to apply "moderation" to the exercise.

Luckily Ive not required a travelling steady. But if I was to build one it would be along the lines of Joe Pie's with replaceable Phenolic finger

On several of our sites we are still running BT Meridian phone systems. Yes they are ancient and spares are hard to come by

This one needed moving away from the wall by approx 1m without shutting down and with a minimal risk of it breaking

The reason for moving it is to install a new 42U network cabinet so we can recable the building and move over to Cisco IP telephony

So using some bits of 60x60x6mm box and other bits I had kicking around I knocked up this frame that bolted around the 2 towers so they could be moved as 1 unit. The towers are bolted together with cables running between them so have to move as 1 unit.

Frame has wind up castors that I liberated from a scrap yard a few years back as I thought they might come in handy, didn't think I'd be using them for this





Under the towers the floor tiles have holes so the cables run under the floor, once the frame was in place and the towers lifted we opened up the holes with a recip saw so the tiles underneath could be removed

Tomorrow is the easy job of rolling it to its new location

Got around to adding some suspension and wheels

@sparkysy. It should do, all the hard work is done.

But if it does go wrong there will be lots of people with no desk phones

The cabling under the floor is the usual tangled mess that 40yrs of adds, moves and changes that have taken place as the site is has changed with no attempt to keep it tidy

As its on a raised floor with pillars supporting the floor tiles I had to be creative with the prep work to ensure all the cables will move with the towers

LR bottle jack came in handy to temporarily hold up the tiles so the support posts could be removed to free the cables



And the recip saw cut some slots to get the cables out of the tiles

@indy4x That would definitely cause some issues, no phones! I bet those cuts with the recip was a tense moment! Looking at your prep it should be an early finish
Yes the few that I have encountered I have been removing and below the raised floors are always horrendous spaghetti in comms rooms!
I'm not a fan of cat5/6 cable it's all too fiddly for me, don't mind installing it but terminating it forget that, I'd rather do a large swa to a panel than punch down a load of cat cables.

Alternator bracket for the trike Some 1" flat bar and a bit of cutting and welding, jobs a good un.
I was thinking of searching out something a fair bit smaller, but more time, more. money, and I had this one in the shed already.

Adapted this 3 point linkage buck rake to fit my Merlo. Just waiting for a mate to add a switch and pipe work to control the push -off plate.
