Polished my clock. It had come down while we decorated. I’d made it as a woodwork project back in the 90’s using some oak that I’d rescued from my nan and grandads house clearance, it was an old dressing table, I still have the mirror in the attic dated 1908. Didnt have the skills or machinery to make the clock mechanism, so bought a modern german one. Thinking about it with online auction sites etc nowadays I might keep my eye out for an old fusee drop dial mechanism that will fit. Its scrubbed up well again

The English Dial Clock is my next project, after I have finished the Citroen DS, so another couple of years. SWMBO bought all the brass etc as a Christmas present. Making a case has always been the stumbling block for me. I built the John Wilding's Regulator clock, I made a glass case for it, a lot easier.
I haven't asked him yet, I'm hoping @julianf will be able to print the dial...

I did a quick layout for a 5 pointed star so that I could drop an axle into my plate (everyone should have a big piece of plate), tack, turn and voila a little paddle wheel for my marble run!

Well today I made the lights come back on!

New switch, in its new position. (Before you had to have a reach around behind the shelves). Angle iron / t&g flooring offcut shelf unit narrowed down by 100mm. Big refurb'd cupboard tarted up and next to it.

Still can't decide whether the pipe offcuts are any good as storage / pigeon holes. I'd get a lot of organiser boxes stacked on those shelves instead...

I've doen something similar behind my blast in cabinet with rectangular section ducting. The cabinet needs to sit away from the wall so the door can open. It's good for pipe offcuts and the like.

On the subject of ducting then I'm a big fan of the Falcon brand of plastic trunking.

Nice. Iirc I made a jig and routed the dial surround. I also bandsawed the bottom from solid

A very sh1t mandrel, slots are as straight as a pride parade as done with a junior hacksaw and whilst the cap head screw isn't countersunk (don't have) the end is enough that it still works. Was planning on using a countersunk Philips head but couldn't apply enough torque to expand and hold securely.

Made a few of these this week, 15mm plastic pipe with small holes in every inch and a T linking down to a valve and hose connection, the mist of cool water is nice in the heat

Whilst my Irish chippy grandfather will likely be turning in his grave, Sarah loves it!

She said the +/-5mm tolerance, coupled with the over use of expanding glue really contrasts with the use of modern, stainless steel panel pins and their haphazard placement.

Usually but surprisingly the cap head worked as the countersunk Philips wouldn't take enough torque.

Ages ago I made a freestanding shelf from old scaffold boards spare from when I made my gate. It stores my oils, spray cans of paint, lubes etc

Figured a rack on the end wouldn't go amiss.

All that work and I realise I could have made it to take 4 cans wide instead of 3!

In the process of populating the rack I dropped a can of mustard colour, filler primer. The earth pin of an upturned 3-pin plug went straight through the side! Tbh I and the garage got away lightly as I quickly bundled it out into the open rubble sack and left it to do its thing! Bummer as it was nearly full!

I've started the scratio. The blocks are at least third hand and were last used to support an oil tank. The quarry mix is new but left over from a job and will be used to fill in the worst of the gaps once it's all settled I'll pour a really runny grout over the lot to stiffen it a bit. If I'm lucky I'll blag the washout of a ready mix truck and won't have to use whatever cement I have in the shed.
