The Haybob wheels were a mess, perished tubes with one really rusty and deeply pitted, chucked them in the citric acid for a day and welded the rim where it was holed

Nice heavy coat of epoxy primer to give the inner tube half a chance

and a splash of colour, aubergine mica for the rims and carnelian red for the equally rusted hub caps is what we had in stock! never going to win any beauty prizes but will do the job
new tubes and sealed C3 bearings and were good to go, once I've made some bearing spacers for the odd wheel...

Thanks, it's all a bit sows ear=silk purse bish bosh stuff but it doesn't warrant £££ spending
Tomorrow there may be some lathe action for the bearing spacers and the way the month is going there may be more injuries

the lorry developed a water leak in the roof of the toilet. most disconcerting. I had to smash the ply that made up the ceiling skin (I glued plastic to it then glued it to the battens, so it was not coming down in once piece) then pull all the insulation out to dry it off. then go hunting for the crack (I assumed) it turns out I missed when drilling a hole a while back and never sealed it...

however whilst I was waiting for a delivery this morning I decided to do some groundwork out front of my house. I mixed up a load of concrete (by hand, that is hard work!) and laid the slabs I took up 3 years ago back down. breaking one in the process but I really don't care. the slabs in question are the top 4 by the door. they where taken up due to a load of ants deciding to nest in the sand they where laid on. this was annoying due to the ants deciding that my hallway made a good place to live also. changing sand for concrete to base the slabs on solve that issue nicely.

found the leak...

putting the ceiling back up involved screwing a new bit of ply to the battens

then gluing the plastic up, and finishing the edges with some plastic 25mm angle.

a little bit left to do, then for the first time ever the bog will actually be done. it has suffered for the last couple of years of 'good enough to use, but not quite done' syndrome... so never got actually finished. not letting that happen this time...

nearly done, just a bit of cleanup and silicone beading. and a bit of trunking for the hose to the shower.

Still on the Haybob, tine holders for the right hand side, oh they aren't worn much

A bit of weldy action and good grind back gets them somewhere near, they only pivot about 90 degrees so as I still cant find the box of finesse that'll do!

Asked to repair this big tap spout, it sticks out the wall and water cascades out the slot on the rounded edge , had to weld 1/2" socket over the hole !

I used my Jazzy 10 cup with a big stick out , about 16mm , with 25cfh of gas , got into the tight space no problem , plenty of gas coverage

Had the joys of changing the DPF Vapouriser tonight after work (well it's ready to go in at least when it arrives).

Checked it with the Mitivac first as only real way to get it out is to destroy it, or drop the subframe/ steering rack (not again thanks!).

For a part that really has a service life they put it in a stupid place, as bad as working on the bikes!.

Luckily fine pitch ratchet saved the day as there was no room at all.

I think my final days will be laid under a bloomin car..

Half way fixed...old pump off and driving to Sheffield tomorrow to pick a new Bosch unit up for my picker, find a day this weekend to refit.

I shot myself in the foot really on Sunday, chatting to a neighbour about how stupidly complicated cars have become.

I may have said "at least the DPF hasn't given us any trouble" or similar and it must of bloomin heard me!.

Need to move FORScan and my VCM2 over to my new laptop tonight to do a regen.

I had constant grief with a Zafira diesel. Poorly designed emissions system that never really worked. It would have cost me a fortune if I had to take it to the dealership every time it went wrong.

To be fair ours is on 93,000 miles with mixed driving.

Hopefully DPF will survive, wife stopped using it when the Engine Service Now message appeared so it's got half a chance.

Given where it is and what it does 10 years is a good run for the Vapouriser.

The Fault Codes are very misleading as well, I bet plenty have just replaced the DPF (and wrecked it again).

Old 110V transformer had some shoddily installed fuse holders installed on the outputs at some point, which clearly failed and then bypassed to just get one socket up and running at some point, so stripped it all down, welded up the holes and installed a thermal overload on the input, weighs 18kg so I'm assuming 3kva intermittent / 1.6kva continuous or somewhere in that region, I can't find anything about it, been passed through the family a bit, possible ex telecom?

Nipped it in the bud, DPF_LOAD was 141% and DPF_SOOT_LD was 127% before driving.

Fitted the Vapouriser and couldn't clear the Regen Codes straight off, went for a drive and it's sorted itself out. Cleared the code and another drive and it's a clean sheet (we have an aftermarket head unit after Sync1 failed).

I didn't thrash it, just drove normally and the car burnt all a the soot out. Probably half an hour total driving.

Luckily my wife knows when it's doing a regen (fans on, instant consumption 0.5 gph, light tapping under floor) and she mentioned it was doing more than usual so that's saved it really.

A beer and a Pizza now!.

One leaky fuel tank out

One new fuel tank that had crappy paint on stripped and painted. I thought the tank started leaking 8 years ago but it turned out to be a split return hose so this has been sat on the shelf ever since.

Fitted the repaired tine holders to the Haybob with new pivot bushes/washers and the return springs from Satan, more as a reminder to me when I need to replace a return spring in a few years time

Fit tine holder with the flap pointing down, knock roll pin through just far enough to catch the return spring hook

Lift flap to horizontal position making sure the return spring is still just hooked in the pin, drift pin in further so its about equal both sides
DONT KNOCK THE PIN IN UNTIL YOU HAVE LIFTED THE FLAP TO HORIZONTAL POSITION

Job done ready for the tines
