Norton Commander in for carbs, don't think you should be able to slide a feeler guage between carb body and spacer plate!.

God knows how they tightened the inside two nuts up, I've ordered a couple of allen bolts to put it back together with (using a ball ended allen key).

Need to flatten the flanges and try a rebuild kit first but he may be into a set of carbs (hopefully not).

Gave mine away with the bike when I sold it.

Amals often warp like that mostly due to ham fisted gorillas over tightening the mounting nuts.
Sometimes you can get them flattened out but often not.

The other issue is, that in bowing the flange, it distorts the orifice

Carb flange needs flatting off, depends if it's distorted the carb body too badly to use though I suppose.

Chap who brought it in says its a special? hence the twin carbs, not looked that far into it yet as I only had an hour on it before closing on Saturday.

Yesterday at the Shed, we held a bring and buy, a swop shop and of course people collecting item that have been donated.

This extra activity can un balance some members, so I tried to keep things in balance by still doing repairs and restorations.

It soon had the rust off, scotchbrite had the back oxide.

Then a few coats of Hard wax.

I've got one that looks exactly like that - well I assume that's what it looks like, since it's been boxed up inside the sofit of our house for the last 4 years - I must have put it down whilst marking something up when I replaced the weatherboards, sofits and upvc cladding. Now the only way to get it would be to lift the tiles one by one till I find it, hence it's still there....

Fixed the toilet seat today (see what I broke today) by fitting a new close couple toilet.
There is a missing entry from “what I broke today” when on Thursday I was fitting the new toilet cistern to wall and whilst tightening the fixing I heard the TING of doom and cracked the porcelain. The supervisor was overseeing my work and immediately realised I’d cocked up and let me know that I had done so. The duct tape may have worked on holding the toilet seat on previously but it didn’t stop the water trickling out the cistern on this occasion so had to order a new one. New cistern arrived today and fitted without breaking anything this time. It never felt so good to sit on the throne as it did today.

Maybe not what I fixed today but what I didn’t break.

After buying @snowcat generator welder,some wheels,some previously stored gussets,a bend to follow the attachment point,then a washer lined up with 3 &4 o’clock chalk marks,place the transfer marking punch over said washer to centre punch mark and bang a 1” hole to weld in a stub axle, Pair of wheels already in stock!

2023 Benelli BN125 10,000 miles..

Zero valve clearances on all 4 valves.

New Ignition coils fitted , originals proved faulty and replaced.

New throttle body, original proved faulty (TPS) and replaced.

RHS switchgear / kill switch wiring connector rotten.

Side stand switch faulty.

Had to re-route loom to take stress off various connectors.

Just absolute rubbish really how they can churn this quality out.

The "wiring" loom was abysmal, struggled to remove the insulation without snapping the wire (probably copper coated aluminium).

It had been at another shop for over a month and they either didn't want to do it or had a go first and then sacked it off as a bad job.

I feel sorry for the owner really as these aren't particularly cheap to buy.

Well I am a bit further on with my renovation of the Cleveland Drill box,

Now all blasted and powder coated (RAL is 6003 if you want to know):




Really need to work on making the slide transfers for this, but I am a bit stuck as I just cannot seem to get it just how I want it. I will persevere, looking good though:



I have a feeling this is going to be challenging to organise. Tomorrow I am going to build the frame to fit it here in this corner, wish me luck:

lorrys cooling system reassembled with a new very expensive ptfe hose, cable tied to the rotten original steel line. coolant refilled and bled.

then onto the rear axle.

having partially disassembled it i discovered 2 things.

1 the abs sensor ring is destroyed. no wonder im getting errors.
and
2 the hub nut is 105mm and i dont have one. thats a £60 socket....

still these things are sent to test us....



whilst they're off i decided it would be a wheely good idea to paint the wheels. again.

i only painted the outside pair first go around. i also used single pack paint. this did not hold up well. in fact, compared to the wheel i didn't paint, it is in far worse condition. so its all been wire wheeled and needle gunned back to bare steel and coated in rust converter.

a spot of 2k primer and 2k direct gloss will be added later this weekend. should hold up much better. the two front wheels that i painted in 2k have held up much better.

and I'm going body coloured this time. cos i already have it.

At the time I thought it was a lot of money for a little saw but it is invaluable and I use it often, My pal gave me a very heavy duty slide out roller thing and I mounted it on that, it means I can stick the long lengths out the door to cut them :-)

This tired Record 00 vice came my way.

It was when you tried to open it, it would jam 3/4 of the way to max opening.

Dismantling showed the threaded part was bent.

I gentle bit of bending had it in a nice true part.

Boiled up in hot caustic soda had the paint removed.

Rattle can primer was used.

All ready to put back together.

All done.

Gold leaf will always show any bad casting on the letters and numbers.
