The other day I got this fuel tank for an Edwardian oil Lamp.

Alas todasy when I fuel it for teh first time it had a series or pin hole leaks on the joins.

All the seams were heated and a wide copper iron was dragged accross them.

VFR750 carb rebuild this morning (remove, cleaned and waiting for rebuild kits to arrive).

Piaggio MP3 (another one!) diagnostics and service this afternoon. Looking at fuel adaptive corrections it's full of E10 junk...

What diagnostic is that you’re running please?

Tried out regrinding an Aldi tapered punches which I never use, to a chisel and it does hold an edge on mild steel.

Keep finding these empty gas cylinders all over the place, they are 2.7 mm wall thickness with paint and M10 x 1.0 valve thread, I'm still wondering what possible use they can be recycled for, any suggestions ?

Ah I see, screw cutting is daunting because of all the bad press it gets but in reality it's not a big deal.

You might well be right. Lots of things are easier than they seem. Once you have got the courage to have a go.

My problem with screw cutting is buying the right tooling without wasting money.

eBay toolholders and 16ER/IR do 90% of what I need.

Anything smaller or bigger than they can cope with I grind up some HSS.

I’m sure you are right Matt. A car full of young lads threw one out of the window as they drove past my house the other day. It’s ended up in my garage no idea what I’m going to do with it but I couldn’t just leave it there. Graham.

Collect them up and weigh them in, spend the money on useful stuff?

Thrown away customer return, just needed opening up and taking out the wrong driver bit that jammed up the mechanism and making up a 5v USB to barrel plug charging lead, luckily any 5 v supply works on these no need to get an overpriced Bosch charger.

dad used to put a valve in and use them as re fillable aerosol cans

What diagnostic is that you’re running please?

That is Piaggio PADS (Piaggio Advanced Diagnostics System), Main Dealer tooling.

We also have TEXA IDC5 multi make diagnostic tool and leads for BMW/ Kawasaki/ Suzuki/ Yamaha Honda etc.

Much prefer PADS when working on the MP3, GTS's etc but I suppose that's partly because it's what I'm used to.

This little vice was mine for a few pennies.
It was in need of some TLC.

At lot of the paint was original and tough.

Boiliny in in caustic sodar had most of it removed, a going over with a wire brush had the rust and crud off.

Rattle can paint in the weak sun.

No a filler primer to fill in some of the rough casting marks.

This clamp was mine for pennies, nowt much wrong with it.
The paint was flaking on the handle into sharp spliters, that will draw blood.

As I do not like giving blood away it had to be sorted.

It was in the open air drying, but it rained. so it got painted inside.

Just waiting for the last wax coat.

Which tools do you use for internal threads?

I think I might have 11IR inserts and bar but most of what I get up to these days can be done with taps. If I don't have a tap and the Insert doesn't fit then I have some small boring bars that take square HSS.
