I chucked the oil everywhere when I took apart my K1, I assumed the metallic look was contamination either from the piston wearing or water leaking through. Definitely not built to last, mine had cracked the plastic "cylinder head". I just put it back together as is and called it good, I'll replace it when it catches fire. Let us know how the Kranzle compares, going off the spec sheet it doesn't appear significantly better than the Karcher.

My neighbour has a Kranzle, quality of the parts is in a different league

It appears more robustly constructed though.

Comparing a Kranzle and a Karcher is like comparing a Ford Fiesta with a F1 car. It doesn't do anything different. Even the engines seem similar. The end result is something very different.

I bought the 10l per minute version, the karcher was 6l I believe. Apart from that the output pressure at 120 bar is the same. The karcher weighs 6.5kg, the kranzle is 23kg, so I'm guessing a bit more robust, we shall see

There's no plastic poxy pumps or housings in the kranzle I can assure you of that

My Karcher K3 power washer developed an internal leak. My fault for leaving it in the barn over winter. So took it apart.

Here's the pump and motor assembly.

Pump detached. Not sure what oil came out but it had a metallic shimmer. The washer hasn't done much work so not built to last.

I can now see the problem, or at least one, they may be more. The frost had pushed the o ring out of the joint. You can see it in the bottom left quadrant of the picture below.

O ring is a couple of quid. Once I find out what the oil is I'll order the o ring and oil if I don't have it. No rush as I've fixed it with one of these

The missus went a over t on the mossy flags outside the chicken shed so it gave me an excuse to get one that will last. The Karcher K3 cost me 85 quid last year they are now "reduced" to 140 quid.

I'll build a trolley for it with hose reels, and remember to tuck it up somewhere warmer over winter.

I read somewhere about a guy that built a small outside cupboard for his pressure washer, it was insulated with the tap inside and had a small bulb inside working off a frost stat. He reckoned that produced enough heat to keep off a freeze, I suppose it saves draining it down/packing it away and its available to use at all times.

I needed a good really good seal on this pipe fitting so used some
Flowmaster pipe seal. I've used it before on radiator tails etc and it's good stuff.

Today I fixed, or to be more precise, nearly fixed my mates wood chipper infeed roller.
Green Mech stopped feeding so I said I'd have a look.
The feed roller is supported on one end by 4 bolt bearing housing and on the other by the hydraulic drive motor.

The bearing had collapsed so I had to remove the motor which was easy enough, however the feed drum was seized solid to the bearing. Also the mounting bolts would not slacken.
After the application of a few strokes with a BFH, the outer bearing race broke and the roller come out.
This showed the drive was stripped which apparently is a common problem and a repair piece is available.

Inner bearing race was also stuck solid so I welded a bit of pipe and angle to the race and put it in the press.
It took a couple of attempts but with a lot of weld to heat it up and a load of pressure it let go.

To be able to line it up in my small lathe, I made an adapter that would fit in a Weldon MT2 slugger bit adapter and the inside of the motor drive repair piece.
The adapter and Weldon would fit in the tailstock and the bearing end would fit in the chuck.

Also turned down a 10mm bolt to center a slugger bit to clean up the shaft.

I could then mount in my Boxford to line everything up and weld the repair section to the roller.

When I was welding it my tig welder developed a mind of its own and started switching randomly so I got a few horrible arc strikes.

Turns out the torch switch was faulty so I had to call it a day until I get a new switch.
So near and yet so far.
I'm sure @8ob will think I'm making a meal out of it but it's more about solving the problem with what I have at hand.

Just be a bit cautious with these. A couple of years ago (2019) a chap I know was woken by "Fireworks", they were actually aerosol cans exploding in what was left of his garage. Later the video footage (cameras in garage, DVR in house) showed that the solar charger he had connected to his motorbike started to give off a few sparks then set the wooden window frame alight.

He wa well insured fortunately but one of the motorbikes he is still arguing the toss over.
