I chucked the oil everywhere when I took apart my K1, I assumed the metallic look was contamination either from the piston wearing or water leaking through. Definitely not built to last, mine had cracked the plastic "cylinder head". I just put it back together as is and called it good, I'll replace it when it catches fire.
Let us know how the Kranzle compares, going off the spec sheet it doesn't appear significantly better than the Karcher.
