If there was someone (?), I could only guess that it may have been a former mother-in-law that was a parasite.A Yank, living in Wales. Who've you p*ssed off in a past life?![]()
I visited Sweden a few times with work and holidays. Have some nice Biltema ratcheting spanners and Torque wrenchesFirst attempt at making a "third hand". Have left these welding machines at the old folks place. Bought the arc welder at a yard sale in Sweden (loppis) for the equivalent of 15 pounds. Its a German made Philips transformer type welder. Had it for 6 years collecting dust and tried it for the first time this summer Welder was a pleasant suprise, had a nice steady arc to my standards ,did some repair on a garden trolley ( but forgot to take photoes). The Mig is a Biltema unit. Read that someone claimed they are the same as Clarkes. Bought it without a ground cable (luckily could use the Philips ground cable). The dinse connectors were shot and wedged together with a screw. Replaced this this with a jubilee clip and electric tape (intending to fix this with new dinse plugs).
Despite its appearence it did behave like a MIG welder. Made this hurried "third hand" with some rebar found in a ditch and a 5 kilo weight found in the basement.
As to the question if aspiring welders should buy new or second hand welders , I definitely believe that there are circumstanses where buying second hand is a good choice.

I want to remove the existing drill chuck from the Fobco MT3 spindle to use Morse taper drills and also a larger chuck which I have; however, the MT3 chuck adapter extends above and beyond the slot for the knockout wedge to remove it.
With the photo showing the slot with the quill extended, does anything change as you rotate the chuck through 360 degrees? There should be a slot in the outer, fixed part of the quill (that is visible in the photo), and another slot in the inner, rotating part of the quill. Clearly, the two slots need to be aligned to allow the drift to pass through.

Didn't think so, as the press was MT3 spec for use with tapered drills. I think I was just having one of those so called "senior moments" today. Are you sure that there is an arbor? Even though there's a slot it could be that the quill has a male taper and only the chuck comes off. You won't know until you try.
nope.
