A lot of head work was needed to work out the connections.
This needed addressing as well.

I guess that welding box must have been RAF or Navy kit for the Army ones I used May 1966 to Dec 1980 were usually painted in dark green glossView attachment 534643
Re varnished after the repair.
The delamination of the ply wood was repaired by glueing the loos parts down and in one case patching it.
All age related dents, ding and scatches were left.

You can get anti fly /spider aricide ( sp?) impregnated stick on rubber patches to keep the spiders away from cameras , sensors etc . Just put a few very close to what you want to be kept clear .A few weeks ago being fed up with moisture getting into my supposed IP67 I/p security camera junction boxes I dried them thoroughly and injected the proper encapsulation goo to keep the rain out. I was annoyed a couple of days ago to see one camera displaying the typical fogged picture. Had a look at it yesterday and to my amusement saw the entire lens covered in what looked like a spider nest, compact and solid.
Poking it to clear it away it turned out to be a HUGE spider, big fat body bigger than my thumb nail with very fat but short legs.
Well that was an easier fix than I’d anticipated!
Using a gas flame, with reduced O2 the pliers were heated u. You can see the red oxid going black. Apart from the areas I missed.
In this case I used a wax and oil mix.Interesting. So you heat the metal, the rust goes black, then what?

Or I let it cool in a dry(as much as I can) air place to cool, then paint.
I have in the past, but a rub with a Meths soaked scotchbrite pad will give a good clean key for rattle can paint. You paint straight over the blackened rust?
I must admit, the pub arch I built, where I applied phosphoric acid is looking great still. Flap disc'd the box section, gave it a coat of 48% strength then washed off with a 10% solution and left to dry before etch priming and top coating with Lidl's Baufix paint.
