Yeh it’s great isn’t it, should have done it a while ago and would have done but only discovered this kit recently when I did my mother in laws Astra.3-series turbo?

Well the kit includes a UV treatment, I don‘t imagine it’ll last forever, if it fades I’ll sand it back again and use 2K clear coat. It’s what they do in hot states in America.
At the end of the day they were knackered so anything you can do to them to extend the life is a bonus, this cost £14
I don’t live in California so hopefully it’ll last a few years

He's been spinning in his grave for years but this will send him into valve bounce. Met him once when he visited HUK in 80's . Proper guy especially as he still contributes to my play fund. So far!The world has turned to sxxx!

It's the same for a lot of Japanese companies, they followed the globalization market scene and are starting to regret it. As their own production facilities & industries are forced to closure because of being priced out the market by the almost slave like labour costs China can produce & sell goods at.
It might be changing though and reverting back to a more home-grown production in many counties around the world if China cannot get a grip on Covid , lock down , poor delivery times etc. & civil rights.

It never ceases to amaze me where some of the stuff is made these days, had a request for some Vauxhall/Opel exhaust valves of which I had 1 in stock but cant get any more as they were made in Russia...
Never really looked before but that was a set of handlebars that were completely wrong (but with correct part number), hey ho.
Understand they all have to do it but I cut my teeth on Hondas a long while back and they were always a cut above the rest (finishing the insides of crank cases etc), always went that bit further than the rest.
They had some Brazilian made bikes out a while back that you could spot a mile off.
End of an era unfortunately.

They did make a few lemons but considering the quantity of new model not really surprising. I do vaguely remember one M/C show in the 80's when they had 50+ new models on show . How the F*** were we supposed to remember the vagaries of each one . Luckily only a small % gave any trouble but when they did the excrement really hit the fan. Think CX 500 Cam.Chain tensioners. Vf750 top ends etc .One problem was they changed design staff so often that they kept redesigning the wheel. I still reckon the VFR was the best all road bike they made.Wow! I'm a Yamaha man at heart but Mr Honda really did know his stuff! Some of the engineering has been amazing over the years for example the V5 MotoGP bike, the VFR series (not the VF) NR750 MENTAL!

This was done for one thing only.

YES I did reset the lamp holder square.
Theses Blow torches are good. The produce a lot of heat. But are know to be difficult to fix when the go wonky.
As this one did.
Graphite seals have failed.
Non Return valve in the pump failed.
Needle brunt back.
The killer was the needle failing.
So it sat in the dead pile for a few months.
The Oh Sh1t momment.
A clean up.
I made sure, by removing the jet, the needle and the lower cap that this would not be returened to service.
One of two earths in place.
The second earth is in the lamp holder itself.
MONEY.

This how I got it. Tatty, tired and rusty.
I lent it to a local car club, who has now folded, a shame. Becausetheir funding was allicated to a "Current World Event situation."
My 8" vice came home the other day.
Not much has changed on it.
This not olny shows the width of the jaws. But also the very poor finish on the casting.
As a newish item, the finish is terrible.
In bits.
The blue paint is also poor as well. It is so thin the rough casting parts on the base has now covering.
The poor finish.
I went over the castings with a sanding disc and removed most of the roughness. But it also brought up how soft the metal was.. When compared to an older vice, or a my Record vice.
In paint.
The handle was removed cleaned, then refitted. Makes it easier to move the mass about.
Bling time, well why not?
