just had the end cap of my compressor non return valve blow out.. i have found the spring and the remains of the cap... guess i am missing a ball bearing
made me jump
no pics yet as i will have to dig it out first

The non return valve on my compressor stopped working and when I stripped it the spring was broken. I stretched what was left of the spring and reassembled it just to get going again. It's been like it for a few months now and still working. No ball bearing in it just a rubber disc in the end of the spring. The pressure release safety valve is different.

A pox ridden chinesium gazebo. Bought & paid for by the yacht club who had borrowed the last one & ruined it. We used it once last summer then my wife lent the new one to them again. Guess what we have friends round this afternoon for a birthday bash so went to erect it.
And lo half the poles are missing & the other half are from something else. So i have thrown the lot in the scrap bin.
Just wasted two hours of our lives. I hate far eastern garbage! Arrgh!

Such gazebo's are Ok if they are treated right , not left up over night or unduly stressed and always put back in the same case that the tent comes with . I'd refrain from offering the clumsy uncaring numpties at the yacht club anything else on a permanent basis . It's the same in many a club where people have more money that engineering nous & an abundance of years behind them .

I found a tyre valve cap on tge bench a few of days ago. Eventually it dawned on me, in the wee small hours, that it was from my space-saver wheel that I'd pumped up for the first time in 8 years

Out to the car to replace it, only to find a soft tyre and this...

The damned thing has failed. It's a good job that I hadn't needed to use it ( in fact it's never been fitted, and the car is 2005).

Down to the local tyre place only to find that it's smaller than for a standard rim, and they don't carry any in stock

Easy to buy if I was in the US, or wanted 10 from Europe, but seemingly hens' teeth in the UK.
I eventually found a couple on eBay - £17.11

It nearly broke me, but force prevailed.
A small oak tree, but tenacious.

I got to use my differential chain hoist for the first time.

Well the two valves arrived.
Unfortunately they're for a standard rim...
That's £17 down the drain

If I'd measured the hole diameter, rather than relying on a search on MB parts, I'd have found a replacement for a more reasonable price i.e. £3.14

its a boiler for me vailliant id got browned off with low water flow going through it for the hot water so changed it to the proper flow

in doing so the boiler started throwing code f22

so looking for parts and waiting for payment

the boiler that was installed was the last boiler that was solid and not the junk of nowadays

so i did an eco check

The Turbomax Plus 828E is a Non-Condensing Combi boiler with a maximum power output of 28.0kw that uses Gas as its fuel source.

screwfix i cannot access either so thats not helping

then ive just got code f20

and all it needs is a new pump not bad for a 23 year old boiler

Nope. It's in exactly the same position as the last time it was run.

First chance to use the latest General Milwaukee M12 stubby torque gun with its 749nm to swap the wheels to winters on the BMW. Front wheel first and broke free the locking wheel bolt with the breaker bar before using the torque gun on the remaining bolts.
WTF on maximum torque setting and it didn’t budge the bolt, the previous generation stubby torque gun removed them with ease. Decided to get the big M18 High Power out. Chuga chuga and see the socket move, a few more chuga chuga's but the bolt isn’t coming out. Check the impact socket and it’s split open and rounded the bolt.
A quick deliberation over using the breaker bar and another socket for finesse or the big High Power and a standard thicker wall impact socket for overkill. I went overkill and got the bolts out. Wheel changed and onto the rear M12 Stubby removed the bolts with ease, changed and onto the other side front. Went to use the breaker bar on the locking wheel bolt and it was a battle. Tried another wheel bolt with the breaker bar and ping, the knuckle broke. Used the M12 stubby and no joy. Out of curiosity I got my biggest torque wrench out to see how tight these bolts were. 200nm and click. 250nm and 300nm both clicked too and that’s as far as I could check.
Big High Power torque gun managed to remove the bolts again. Wheel changed and just the last rear wheel to change which was done with ease again with the M12 Stubby.

I’ve got new bolts on order to replace the fronts as no doubt they’ve been stretched but also concerned the alloy wheels and hubs may also be damaged due to bolts being massively over torqued, though nothing visible. I have no idea how this happened as I change the wheels twice a year for winters and then back to summers and always use a torque wrench to 140nm. The local dealers do the servicing on it which was only an oil change along with an EGR recall last time. It also puzzles me how an M14 fine pitch bolt could be so tight without stripping the threads.

local dealer will do a service check

and thats fit the torq gun on them and tighten them up

so expect thats where your issue lies

only way to find out if thats whats happening is check your nuts before service and check them after the service

There is nowt so ingenious as a congenital idiot. Especially if they have an ugga dugga in their paw. My son had a similar issue with his GT 86 a few weeks ago he got a puncture, took it into the tyre place on the space saver, they checked the others over, ordered a tyre & must have done the nuts up.......Next day he picked the wheel & tyre up, they went to undo it & the locking wheel nut actually sheared off. It entailed some embuggerance getting the remains off so we could remove the wheel. Son now has my torque wrench!

Torque to undo from static is higher than tightening torque, so they won't have been quite that high.
