today its the turn of the bathroom extractor fan to pack in. Which being an inline fan in the attic means crawling in fibreglass to get at. Hopefully its just fluffed up .

Earlier this week I got my festool circular saw out and found that the guard had cracked...
Sent it off to get repaired, and then I needed it yesterday

Mine failed - there was an internal thermal fuse, by the time I got into it it just wasn't worth the bother to fix - bin job.

In our house they ( Manrose Gold with timer overruns) seem to have a roughly ten year service life…. We went for surface mounted units in the ceilings thank goodness…. Ten mins to swap one out and a new one in.

Easier job than I was expecting. Id forgotten the main unit was clipped into the housing. Out with the boiler brush and cleaner and its sucking away again like new

My Newall Topaz lathe DRO stopped responding to any of the setting buttons. Still followed axis movement and displayed it OK. The Zero X and Zero Z buttons had packed up a long time ago, but I could 'Zero Set' by entering 0 into the axis. OK 2 button presses rather than 1 so no big deal - but not today - NO button presses.

Rather reluctantly I took the tin opener to it and as expected found not a lot that could be fixed. I suspected the matrix keyboard itself but it was bonded to the front panel. Not expecting much joy I cleaned it's ribbon cable connector with switch cleaner and put it back together.

Much to my surprise not only was today's fault cleared, but the 'zero set' one as well that I've had since about 2002

went to use my 9" Makita with a diamond blade on it.....About 3 years old....
on/off switch has gone, tried cleaning out the dust.....
try buying one of those here.....hahaha.....
plus last week the plastic fan on my Hitachi 9" grinder disintegated....oh what fun....
cant wait for Monday to see what that brings........

Not actually today, but discovered today after I spent yesterday getting the outside gleaming.

Serious water ingress into our caravan. No time to get involved with resealing it and ripping out innards to replace stained panels. Local dealer just told me it will be 4-5 thousand in labour and won’t happen til winter. Up together it’s worth 6-7 thousand as is now 1-2. How to write off several thousand in one day.

Now just got to find someone local who wants a project

theres nothing more dishearting than doing a good job when the next day you are going to throw it away because of some thing else you find

Look on the bright side - it's a wobble box in Cornwall so if you scrap it you'll stop it from inevitably ending up on its side on the M5

Fortunately only the smallest broke.
Counting now a lot more.
Most painful was a accident with my Ironhorse (KTM super competition) which deformed my chest.
My wife hates it because it also broke my knee.
Anyway.
