I was looking at the brickies trowel, never ceases to amaze me how small they end up after a few years of brick laying.

I’ll take a picture of the box. It is complete. I may be in a position to make a drawer in the future if it’s the same as the photo I put up. I’ve acquired a Leigh dovetail unit which apparently can do finger joints. Which drawer have you got missing?

The Leigh unit can do almost any pin style joint, even more so with the optional jigs.

I can make a drawer no problem at all but I'd love to reunite it with an original item. Just a toolbox I happened across by chance.

I suppose standards have changed (dropped). I find it sad to think of the pride he probably took in his tools and the work he did, just being tossed out. I think it’s rather disrespectful to just junk their stuff.

Happens all the time. I intend to give my stuff away instead of my girls chucking it

The problem is that in this crazy world there's so few people that actually know how to use this stuff (or even what it's for half the time) that in most people's eyes it is just worthless junk.

its realy sad a mate passed away ive helped the son clear and sell stuff its loads of work and worth doing more so as its there stuff and you want it not to go to waste

but there does come a time when selling a few bits for a 5er here and a 10er there when keeping the house going even if there is no morgage there is council tax gas electic water etc every month

I spotted my Leigh unit of Facebook marketplace. It was up for £50 and I only need to buy a guide bush for my Bosch router. It was too good to not buy it.

Do you find no one bothers to try and repair anything now? The guy in the workshop has two very expensive Honda inverter generators worth about £5k each. They both went wrong. One chucked its magnets off the stator and the other one had the control board fail. He ordered a stator at £500 and a board at £600. I reckoned I could fix them. I glued the magnets back with epoxy, making sure to get the polarity of the magnets correct and made up spacers while they set. I then repaired the control board. It was just a 20 amp relay costing less than a tenner. He was lucky both parts were out of stock, so he could get a refund. Unbelievably he actually baulked at the cost of the relay as it was less than 20mm square. I’d saved him £1100! I’ll never understand some people. And no, he hasn’t coughed up for the epoxy and relay yet but both gennys are working.

I suspect the top one is a pointing tool (for stonework, maybe?)

Middle might be a coving trowel of some sort, but looks very short.

The bottom one is bugging me - I know I've seen one before, but I'm beggared if I can remember where or what it was for.

Talking of saving money, SWMBO managed to break the door off the washing machine. I looked up the price and had a touch of the vapours! £184.00! So that went into the workshop for some 24 hour intensive care. It’s now better than original and SWIMBO thinks it looks cool.

Pointing tool sounds good. The other two could possibly be some sort of gardening implements as they were in the towels and garden tools bag.

Bucket handled pointer !

I bought two metal buckets, from the second hand all sorts yard, to remove the handles and make 'pointers' for doing brick and block work,
The builders merchants, nor any diy stores, seem to supply any decent ones.

Great save, I should think there is some quality stuff amongst it all, scarey to think it could have all been melted down to make more chinesium!
