Stuff I rescued from going to the dump.

I saw a couple clearing out their garage and wandered over to see if there was anything of interest. They said they were on their way to taking it all to the dump.
I offered to take it off their hands and I backed my van onto their drive.
Here is just a small sample of the stuff I acquired. I’ll post more pictures as I go through it all.

The welder was abandoned by the side of a compactor, ready to be crushed. It was just missing an electrode holder and in need of a good clean up.

The secateurs alone are still being sold for £69.99.

At least they’ve been rescued and cleaned up. So his memory will carry on with me.

Better than rusting in the bottom of the recycling skip.

people are just crazy….
Over the years had a few things, what ididnt need gave to a young married guy….
he prob cut his fingers off but didn’t have to spend on the tools to do it…hahaha

I’ve got my old dads wds trowel, had to take a double look!

I went to a dump in kent once and here are these blokes stacking tool boxes one after another on the ground.

" Can I have those please?" I asked.
" Help yourself" they replied.

It was about 20 metal boxes full of precision tools from De Havilland.

Is the toolbox complete? Is it a Moore and Wright?

If it's not complete would you consider selling one of the smaller drawers? I have a box with a drawer missing.

I suppose standards have changed (dropped). I find it sad to think of the pride he probably took in his tools and the work he did, just being tossed out. I think it’s rather disrespectful to just junk their stuff.

I’ll take a picture of the box. It is complete. I may be in a position to make a drawer in the future if it’s the same as the photo I put up. I’ve acquired a Leigh dovetail unit which apparently can do finger joints. Which drawer have you got missing?

Nicely rescued
it breaks my heart to see this sort of thing nowadays when you have local Freecycle groups or marketplace you can just give them away save you all grief understandably not everybody has Internet
I did apply for welding table 6ft by 2ft and half inch thick which was free it had solid bolt on legs already unbolted which was great for me as limited to a 27 inch gap to get things for the house
unfortunately it went to a scrap man gutted
is amazing what you can find
