Stuck!

Stuck here in Lanzarote. Had a fantastic holiday until the last day on Thursday , then it all went pete tongue. Got to airport , waited 4 hrs then was took to a hotel , been here ever since. No sign of any way home at minute.ç
Glad i booked flight only with thomas cook , they have looked after us in this hotel great. Lots of people in this hotel booked with Ryanair and Easyjet , and they have just dropped them like a stone. Gave them a piece of paper and told them to claim, a partial refund when back in the UK , but from then on they have been on their own.
A family with 3 small kids have just left by bus to get the ferry to fuertaventura then ,having to pay for accomodation , and having to buy a flight home, earliest they could get one was for Wednesday , and that probably will no go either
The hotel we are in were charging them 100 euro a night. A ryanair crew are in the next hotel , and they have been told by the company they will not be paying them while they are also stuck here , and they have to find there own accomodation also
I have only used Ryanair for short stuff , dublin etc , would never use them now for places any further

We use Ryanair from EDI to Poitiers, suits us, single flight to our destination. We,re with the outlaws, so better situation than many others, who I hope get sorted real soon!

I better ask outlaws if they have insurace to put up with us for another 5 days

Gordoom Broon has said on TV something about the Navy being used to ship back the skivers from Spain etc. , some Kent locals have done a mini dunkirk with their boats and ask for fuel cost assistance , others are charging to make a profit.

Perhaps you may want to check out BBC world service , any of the Brit embassies and any sea related forums such as " world seafishing " in the Kent area .

I hate to worsen problems but we could perhaps be in for a short run of "frost" and worst case scenario....... "SNOW"


Even if we don't get the snow, if the frost comes out now all the plants have been pollinated they won't fruit, complete loss of crops could be on the horizon...
Even if they all don't fail, if the bees don't have enough food stocked up they'll be wiped out too

Being that we, Europe, have had a decidedly warm spell recently it's continuing to draw it down like a vacuum over Europe...

We could be in for a "moderately bad spell" as it were...

Mrs R received an email from her friend, her hubby and mate got stuck in Portugal and, he hit the 1000 quid mark and still not on UK soil yet!!!!

Oh, they had to leave their golf clubs, 10O quid each to have them repatriated later

OUCH, this is a long time stuck, if you can be repatriated via business class, why not the same as per your original booking? (non business class assuming you have a return ticket)

I imagine many credit cards maxed out this month???

Yes and No Si, urgent things to attend to, happy that they are done now. Just cleared my work inbox, mother load sitting there.

No, because the weather is sheite, very noticeable drop in temp exiting the aircraft

Wasn't long till I viewed the local neds, big difference here compared to France, that said, France is not without it,s own problems!

IMO more laid back than here.

Got home today, bloody freezing it is

the only seats (with my airline - Emirates) are very close to the date I've been given and they are business class (I've looked on the web), Emirates will only carry me economy - which is what I paid for.
another ailrline has economy seats (again within a few days of 4th of May) but even then they are over a thousand pounds - per person/one way!
I've looked at flying home via Hong Kong, again no seats.

Not good all round mate, I guess you'll have to weight up what options you do have, then decide whether to cough up or stay put till fly day.
