It is not just the money the attitude does not help either, "ours is the best others are junk", No we wont replace that dead blow mallet even though it has turned to cheese, you used those lever cutters for 3mm piano wire no we wont replace them, the Nipex I replaced them with lasted 3\4 times as long only had to get new pair because I abused them on a job that had to be finished & it was cheaper to replace tool than time taken to fetch correct item to site
There are a lot of good tools out there with good warranties, my dealings with SO over returns has been poor to say the least.
Using spanners on titanium & magnesium fittings will show you wear if I am going to pay 2\3 times the price I want, The replacement without the attitude.
I have been at it for over 50 years & have most standard tools required so I am not buying or in hock to the van men.

These lads with the bungalow sized tool boxes fascinate me no wonder they cant afford a house

I had a nightmare replacing a 1/4 drive ratchet, not abused or had any extension put on it. I did eventually get it swapped, so I sold it and bought a Halfords one

Whilst I understand that, it’s not like they hide the lifetime warranty in the small print is it?

Have alot of snap on tools,
Spent multiple thousands, but never have an issue changing anything, even chisels!!

But for the shorter combo spanners the ratchet heads are too big, I would look at sealey/draper, as still do half decent tools at sensible money.

Any snap on guy should honour the warranty. But they don’t have to be happy about it I gues.

You’ll have to be doing something very silly to be taking a broken snap on spanner back. Especially a stubby one. I’ve got a drawer full of the things mostly dating from the early to mid 90’s and I’ve never taken one back. Use em on the correct size fastener at the leverage limit of the tool and the warranty just will never be important. The biggest problem with buying snap on is your buying something with a 75% resale value. Makes it very appealing to to the light fingered folk to take the opportunity when your back is turned and unfortunately the warranty doesn’t cover that

Good spanners. A bit marmite though. I’m not sure if it’s actually applicable with the stubby ones they may be different but the standard length ones have a peculiar bulge in the middle. I don’t like them personally for this very reason I find them odd feeling in the palm. Don’t be put off by that though a lot of people love it. Some say the most comfortable spanners about and I think Mac adopted a similar design so it’s obviously desired but just not my taste and a few others don’t like em either.
