Small world!! I know paul well. My step dad used to work for him he has a hgv garage out side of Northallerton.
He’s a hell of driver. Dunno if he’s still racing now but he’s had a few 205 gti rally cross motors that he used to run down at Croft.

the only shale track I ever raced on was at barrow. the track was in a sand quarry and it was hissing down all day the public bog was at the end of the track behind a tin sheet . the pee just went over the track so every time u went round u got sprayed with pee started the race as a white top at front was leading the race till last lap and and a redtop paul broach an absolute killer locked on to me I'm braking for the bend and hese pushing me faster I moved over he went through and won I came second never raced on shale again just on tarmac

Do you remember Ian phobes. He had a fleet of wagons. Used to race the bangers down at Hpool. He was another one to watch. Absolutely crackers in a banger. He had an old alfa Romeo. It was proper quick.

yup that's him he came second in the f2 world final one year did banger racing 1st then rally cross and f2 small world

His parents house was wall to wall full of his racing trophies. We used to pop round at Xmas time before I moved down this way.

u will have to put some video up in start of season with a full compliment of cars at a points meetingit gets mental people wanting to score points early on in season

Nice. Is that an F1 or formula v8.
What lumps in that? Got a friend who runs a Chevy block in his. It goes like .............

Rover v8 lumps are still probably the most used now iirc. Yeah pokey things.

just bought a Chevy 355 off a guy flogging all his chevy stuff off to race rovers, could not believe what he was spending on a Rover to be competitive versus what you could have built a chevy or LS motor for.

Yeah the rover are spendy to get decent power out of them.

did u part the wheels in a lathe or is that your jig in the vice and use a grinder with cutting disk

I just use a grinder now as the wheels are no where near straight off road car's, when I was parting them in the lathe some were so egg shaped that you would cut through the centre in places before you had parted the outer.
And besides that they are always truer after I've banded them than they ever were before.

I haven't been to see stock cars in years. We always used to go the New Years day meeting at Wimbledon when we lived in Berkshire.

I know my boys would love it but I'd like to find a meeting where they do some of the comedy stuff like big van bangers or caravan figure or 8. Wheres a good place to go? I guess Birmingham?

I know a lot of people have an emotional attachment to Rover V8s but I've never understood why people get so juiced up about them, Chevy crate motors do 400hp+ straight out of the box in basic trim and would probably do 500K miles in a road car.

For van bangers and caravans there is hednesford ,buxton, skegvegas , kingslynn there are others but theses are the main ones.
The rover v8s are used in V8 hotstox because you have to in the rules, My small block Chevy in my F1 stockcar was 850hp plus.
