Definitely my saw. It is what it is, probably not his fault and not mine either. Just bad luck on the new parts. I wouldn't see him stuck with it either, ill stand over what I sell. At least I sold it local, if that was on ebay imagine the handling that would have been!

I received these parts yesterday.
The new cylinder kit looks great quality. But the crankshaft bearings I am not happy with.
One is packed with grease in the pack. Wtf. The other one, the type that failed here before has a plastic ball bearing cage on one side. So not chancing that again. I ordered genuine stihl bearing for that one that failed before and for the other smaller one I have a SKF bearing I know are Italian made quality. (Genuine bearings have metal cages)
I will have to wait longer on the Stihl bearing arriving but of course would rather that than have further issues.

Looks like ebay are including chainsaws in their knives/bladed items selling restrictions, from 11th March, they cant be collected or delivered by normal services, has to be a age verification service. Unsure yet but it may include parts and chains, that would be a pain.
I wonder if they will still allow chinese imports. I have been meaning to get a longer 28" bar for the g372..

I can think of alot more important things ebay should be adressing. Like all the clearly fake Milwaukee gear listed as if genuine and at inflated prices. And the ability to buy road legal number plates from many sellers on ebay with zero checks of identity or vehicle documents.

I received the genuine Stihl bearings and got that TS410 back together at the weekend. Running perfect did a good few test cuts and no issues at all.

I also went back to one of my own vintage saw projects. The 041AV. This saw was bought in non running condition and I traced the issues to a weak electronic ignition system. Ordered a new aftermarket 041 fitment electronic ignition system from Germany, with a machined fan cover the saw is now back together enough for a start up and itd running great.
I'll renew the original AV mounts and paint + grip wrap the handle bar. Repaint the original bar and fit a new chain.

Picked them up today. £15 each locally on FB. Guy was kind enough to keep them for me until I was able to collect so I paid him extra
A 08s with chain brake and a 045AV which I assume has points ignition as it doesn't say electronic on it. Both really cool old Stihl saws to add to my other vintage stihl saws. I will try to get them running in a next couple of weeks, service them and replace any of the very few missing parts and keep them all original. Stihl rolomatic bars on em both. 045 bar may need some touching up like my other 045 bar did.

The only notable part I can see that's missing is the air cleaner cover on the 045. Hard to get and obviously I want to make the saw complete again even if to some people it's not worth spending money on.
So looks like I'll have to order an aftermarket one from Canada. I'll make sure it runs first and that I don't need any other parts then order that up to make the old girl complete.

Update on the latest Stihl 045 £15 saw -
The seller was kind enough to contact me and meet me after work today with the original air cleaner cover that was missing! I didn't ask, he contacted me to say it was sitting on his bench and he forgot all about it.
It's an important part to have and saved me buying an aftermarket one from Canada.
Removed the carb and getting it ready for cleaning and its new genuine kit.
Ps I highly recommend this guy for chain saw parts-
