Steel Fuel Pipe Repair

The fuel pump cradle on my project needs a bit of work. There's a split in the main 5/16 high pressure line which had been repaired previously with a rubber hose and two jubilee clips.The split is on the inside of a 90 bend and access is quite restricted so I wouldn't be able to cut out a section or even use that fuel pipe/tank repair goo (I'll add photos later). Anyway, as the pipe is quite corroded I would prefer a more permanent repair and am looking at removing the pipe completely by cutting it flush and drilling out any remains, and replacing it - possibly by brazing.

It's a few years since I did any brazing, but would my trusty Mapp gas torch be up to the job? and what brazing rods would I need?

replace it with cunifer 8mm
and silver solder it to . stop flexy popping off a few turns of copper round the pipe end and soft solder makes a nice bell end

Silver solder as opposed to rods? is that what plumbers use? And it won't crack from vibrations?

If the joint is appropriately prepared and soundly made, there'll be little chance of it cracking.
Plumbers use 'soft solder', traditionally an alloy of lead and tin but available as 'lead free' and is used when melted to join metallic surfaces, most commonly copper pipes/brass fittings.
Silver solder is considered a 'hard solder' there are various types made of differing alloys and all with a higher melting point than 'soft solders'. They come as rods and are comparatively more expensive than soft solders.
Hard and soft solders require different fluxes but both can be employed using Mapp gas.

Plastic pipe is Widely used for petrol and diesel lines .
I replace corroded fuel pipes with plastic and push fit joiners .
Truck air line is ideal

So above is the before…. Steel pipes corroded, but the high pressure one (centre) is split along the inside - not visible from the pic….





… and that’s it repaired. As suggested, I cut the feed and return pipes off, drilled the holes out, and brazed 5/16” and 1/4” cunifer pipe in. The only pipe untouched is the breather, but it’s not easily accessible on the inside and is in good shape so I gave it a lick of zinc primer and Lidl metal protecting paint along with the outside of the bracket.
