You're an expert on thin MIG. This maybe needs an expert on 5+ mm MMA, for the sake of one pin hole or suchlike that's later a massive ache to fix?

He's also a really top bloke

No2 pozi bit slipped out of the screw head and went right though my thumb 20 odd years ago, it has never grown properly since, other one is also smashed but the opposite way!
Plus its ahs been clouted many many times with a hammer, think Im quite good with a hammer, but every now and then its goes a bit wrong.

Well I think she will now float again without letting water in. Got the last big repair piece welded in and then fixed the little hole at the front of the starboard keel.

Gave the lot a good covering in Epoxy to keep her sealed up.

The props and rudders have been refitted but I noticed nothing has been done up tight yet. Hopefully he bloke doing that will be finished soon as I'm racing to get her back in the water.

You will find anyone who works on boats exists in another time/frame dimension, and thats when you can find them!

Do you have any idea of top speed and cruisng speed?

She does 12 knots flat our. Cruising speed is limited on the Thames.

After the Christmas break I'm back working on the boat. I've finished derusting down in the bilges so I've started the process of painting. It's crampt and uncomfortable but I'm getting there

With half done I'm outside enjoying the sun and finishing off the welding.

With that done I'm painting it in Epoxy primer before putting on some epoxy filler.

Got more done yesterday before getting stuck on the m4 for 3.5 hours

Bilges in the engine area is now 95% painted and are so much nicer.

Rain stopped any exterior painting so I started taking down curtain and found they were hiding leaky windows.

I already have 35 meters of seal on order so hopefully that arrives soon but as a bodge up I taped up the worst culprits

I've also asked a marine chippy to come and quote as woodwork is not a speciality skill I have yet.

The chippy came and had a look, he thinks small repair patches are possible and most of it will scrape back to as it should be. I'm waiting on pricing for the teak faced ply.

Gave below the Waterline a coat of underwater primer, just Anti foul to go now.

Got a lot of paintwork done and hopefully the stripes down at the waterline will be done this coming weekend.

You have more faith in it than I, I gave up on boats about thirty years ago, as has been mentioned, they are a serious money pit. Even when they are 100% they are still a money pit, needing constant attention AND you need the latest this, that or the other.

This will be my first and last boat, I'm only doing it as it was my parents and they would be looking down ****** off if I had sold it in the condition it was in.
