I suppose there is only so much grip with paint and easier to scrape heavier steel as its solid and doesn't flex, I wouldn't use the same primer again thoughPerhaps no, but that might have been down to the temperature same as the epoxy foul-up.
I've yet to find a paint I couldn't scrape off though, I use a 20mm wide solid carbide flat scraper. The original paint from the 60's didn't put up much of a fight though the red oxide primer was marginally more resistant. I also scraped 3 layers of paint off my 1942 lathe including the original crinkle black undercoat. God knows what chemicals they put in that stuff but it came off all the same.
Good stuff. Will look a treat when the project is done.
