I would have thought you need one of those collet type things you put the die into to start it square and hold it square when you cut the thread - hopefully someone knows what they are called? You fit the die into the collet and then the collet goes into a larger sized die stock?

That's given me an idea, I've got some 1/2" bore pipe that fits over the round bar, I'm going to make a sleeve and clamp set up to fit over my die stock so it keeps the round bar perpendicular to the die by holding it in the sleeve.
Will be accurate enough for what I need, and more accurate than I'm getting currently anyhow!
