HE well knew matey I'm afraid,Plus when I went to see it there was rust/coolant stains on the header tank and he said no problems it's always been like that,
Then when I stripped it one or two small waterways in the head was full of bar seal, like that dog turd/oxo stuff you crumble in.
He was the keeper for the last 9 years!HE well knew matey I'm afraid,
brown coolant is one of the signs of combustion leakage that has been leaking for a while !! two reasons the antifreeze has been diluted with constant topping up so coolant has no anti rust in it and the combustion gasses put fresh air and acids into the water and it corrodes like a brake disc thats been powerwashed ( ie as you watch it! ).
how long was he the keeper ? had he bought it cheap COZ the gasket was gone and then thought oh its not too bad i'll punt it on---- as is !
I removed the stem seals before it went for skimming, so they either wasn't on in the first place or at the bottom of their hot tankre The spring seats are they held on with the stem seals ? on many engines the stem seal has to removed to get them off, on most ally heads they are a requirement to allow the spring to rotate as the engine runs and not erode the ally away
also makes it easier for the springs to turn.
VERY likely----------- Fishing time ?so they either wasn't on in the first place or at the bottom of their hot tank![]()
that was lucky! They was in the bottom of the hot tank
That's with rushing, oh well all's well, I should get the valve stem seals tomorrow to build it back up
Both have had injector issues I think each has had about £1000 spent on starting issues, one I can't remember but the current water issue one had a loom problem, both are ex police low milage full service history.he must be pretty unlucky, they're pretty well accepted as the most reliable vans you can get!
HEHE thought they would be what would we all do without this forum ??They was in the bottom of the hot tank That's with rushing
I'd already guessed that they would be there,HEHE thought they would be what would we all do without this forum ??

What does him is I paid buttons for an old Bedford CF camper, put an alternator, earth strap and two brake pipes on it, ran it for two years and sold it for 4 times what I paid !
