And??I know for a fact that all Aldi customer returns go straight in the skip.
What relevance is that?

Don’t suggest buying a better brand either please.
After spending a fortune on all sorts of soldering irons I realised that Antex with their push on collet type tips was the only way to go. Heat transfer is far better - a 25w iron is better than other people's 60w!
Hopefully you are sorted now but I read Fizzy's comments as 'make an adapter to take the slide on Antex tips' which I would have thought, would make the wand a bit too long for your liking.

So why not make an aluminium adapter threaded to fit Aldi iron and sized to fit antex tips? After spending a fortune on all sorts of soldering irons I realised that Antex with their push on collet type tips was the only way to go. The thread in the Aldi one isn’t too bad, once the tip is screwed in and nipped up it stays secure but I bought a Lidl one a while back and that tip was forever coming loose.I think the screw thread is part of the problem - not a tight enough fit but if you could get a larger tip to slide right over it would be fine. Perhaps a copper adaptor for even better heat transfer?
