every one i see are welded to there phones
had one this morning down my slip road stroke footpath. a teenager welded to her phone not looking where she was walking. i stopped my van and just watched her walk right in to me and nearly dropped the phone it happens regularly

I've been looking at a few boxfords on market place and flebay, there are lots of variations in price and models.... I know little to nothing about them, its a gamble not seeing a lathe in person but what's a fella to do!
These smaller boxfords from my understanding started as model A, B, C ect and then AUD, BUD, CUD ect the UD designation standing for under drive?
I Believe the AUD where the better specced of the bunch?
A couple of questions.
1. Is there much to go wrong with them
2. Are parts readily available originally or aftermarket?

I agee, NI is t that big a place. Worth a trip out to touch and feel if you really want a lathe. If your clueless get owner to turn a test bar

No, why…..a machine tool dealer. I thought you might go look at the AUD in NI. If buying from dealers they often sell extra chucks etc separately so driving cost of ownership up. Private sellers usually include extras.
So did I, but we haven't really been in contact much and negotiations have stalled.
I'm just looking at other options.
The one I'm looking at with Omaritech Ltd is a later model chipmaster, comes with the manual, a 3 jaw chuck with new Jaws fitted, Tailstock chuck and live centre no steadies with it though.
It's three phase with variable speed fitted and the variator removed.
I was hoping there might have been a member near hand that could look at it for me for a fee.
I'm just looking at other options.

I've PMd to explain that I'm working away full time and home for a short weekend every couple weeks.
I don't think our timelines are going to align anytime soon.
I also want to do a few things to get the Boxfords into the condition I'd like before getting rid and I just don't have the time.
I'm not going to sell something on here I'm not happy with myself.
