I'd cut the tails after the isolator, add another fused isolator and run the 16mm to the garage with its own consumer unit
That cutout could have any fuse from 60-100 amps inside
I don't think planning officer's will be able to sign off electrical work. Do it yourself then pay an electrician to test it then sign it off but a lot don't like putting their name to someone else's work, I know I don't!
i though they actualy did the testing but will want to look at the work as it goes along ?
They'll want to inspect but not sure if they'll sign off. You'll have to ask them I suppose.
I am on the phone at the moment but when back on a pc i will sort out some links to bits and info....but, really, im much more interested in the technical side at this stage!
I'd imagine your CNC machine draws too much power to give it it's own UPS ?What im really wanting to achieve is that the CNC machine does not get tripped by overload. If something goes mid job it just costs me time / effort / money.
Thats the way to go but unless the workshop feed is either swa or in metallic conduit (or surface mounted along its entire length) To comply with current regs it still needs rcd protection.(no RCD to trip) and the 63A MCB is the feed to my garage's consumer unit.
This should give you a bit of background on the earthing side of things....but, really, im much more interested in the technical side at this stage!
