Sip 170 problems

Hi got a couple of problems with my mig,
I use throw away bottles but there lasting barely ten mins of welding before there empty, I can't find any leaks and I've the reg set at 8.
The other problem is when I'm welding, at times it's like someone is flicking the power settings up and down, this is working with new clean steel.
I'm quite a competent welder, I work on a farm so I'm used to mig welding all different thicknesses and qualities of steel

First, disposable bottles don't last long at all, surprised you're getting 10mins worth of welding out of them.

Second it's a Sip so it'll be rubbish!

I'm afraid the disposables do only last 10 mins, best get a refillable bottle.

The power surging is probably the wire feed changing speeds while you try to weld.

The surging is a problem common to SIPs and Cosmos due to its automatic wire speed adjustment.

If you implement this mod http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=23510, and the wire feed brace mentioned it will transform the welder into a very usable machine.

I have no problems with mine anymore, if only the manufacturer had spent a few pounds more they would be a rival for the Clarke machines.

On the plus side, you can pick them up cheap 2nd hand due to this problem, make the mod and have a great little machine

Do you know anyone who would make this mod for me so all I have to do is connect it all up in the mig?
Really need my mig sorting asap, got three weeks to complete the welding on my missus beetle till we lose the garage and then it's outside

I'm not aware of it for sale anywhere. Its cheap and quick to make yourself though.
