This is Charlotte, Commer bread van....(after me gran, she raised me).....had her almost 40 years, must count up.....
anyway...
have some repairs to do on the radiator grill....splits and cracks...etc....
where the steel is thicker tried sif bronze but too much distorsion......
have to re-attach some of the cross grill bars...
they were thin when new.....bloody accountants even in the 30's.....hahaha......
so plan to silver solder a stiffener on the back-side where needed....
the grill will be painted...theres a few old marks that will stay....
want the used look......this is to be used reg....not a show pony.....
making a new ally bonnet now.......
need another lifetime to do all the jobs I want...other projects....
also need to make a new w/screen opening frame.....any suggestions as to how to roll the bottom corners.....
was thinking of just cutting them outta 3mm sheet steel and silver soldering the backing section (to hold the glass) and hinge attachments on after........
then there's the side sliding windows to repair....
so,
have looked and the choice is endless for silver solder....lower temp the better...advice on something for general use please.....have oxy and a small propane torch runs off a 20kilo bottle, it will just get 22mm copper hot enough), Bullfinch I think...
I normally work with plate not biscuit tin metal......big learning curve....
oh, she's gonna tow my caravan to Crete in Sept.......hahaha...
