I’ve had some more from my brother, so here goes.
First up, that coolant union he spent time and effort fixing……only to find he already had a NOS one he’d forgotten about
On a more positive note, the NEC classic cars show brought some of these to go on the correct size (and square posts) battery he bought.
Some more shiny bits
And moving on, this is not ideal. More snapped studs.
Building the passenger door back up. The astute will notice the black sticky vinyl trims are now fitted, a real pig of a job to be frank. We’ve seen plenty full of bubbles etc, like an early phone screen protector on a larger scale. Electric window working so I’ll have to upload the video separately
Still, it's been a good day. The electrics are largely working. All the lights and indicators (couldn't test the reversing lights or brake lights). Wipers front and rear work. He thinks there's something wrong with the rear though.
That door open etc display flashes with errors for the driver's door and tailgate. Driver's door is understandable coz it's not wired. There's something up with the boot. The remote release doesn't work either.
And the electric window in the passenger door works!
All the warning lights go mad but none of them are wired in. Oil, brake pads, handbrake etc. So expected.
That’s a huge chunk of progress. As you can see above, the electrics are mostly working, one door built back up, and now working through the remainder. For a simple 80’s car there is quite a lot of wiring, and they weren’t exactly reliable electrics in the first place.
2 snapped studs do deal with but a decent chunk of them poking out so hopefully not too bad.
