This morning I made a start on my Shrinker and Stretcher build so thought I would post my first photo from milling the rounded tops. I shall be making 2 bodies and hopefully 1 set of shrinker jaws and 1 set of stretcher jaws save having to swap them about

I will update as to progress as and when I have more pics

When I was a apprentice I made a stretcher shrinker as back then they were expensive!
Used OHAS to make the dies and a shaper to machine the gripper serrations on with

What sort of jaws are you thinking of making?

I had a chance to take an Eckold apart and they were very different to the usual ebay type.
Really nice jaws but $1000 a set!

That was on an American site and the only one that I found that listed a cost.
Are they even more expensive over here?

Seems a huge price for a couple of 40mm jaws and a bit of rubber.

Last night I managed to get a bit more done. I am using some 10mm plate I had spare for the sides

    OCT_1060.JPG

For the centre piece I am still munching through the forklift fork I need to mill it down to size 25mm I managed to get 2 pieces out it.

    OCT_1059.JPG OCT_1065.JPG

I mocked them up for welding the centre piece in

    OCT_1068.JPG OCT_1069.JPG

I cut some off cuts for the lifter parts they will be milled to fit in between the centres.

    OCT_1063.JPG

Once welded I then milled off the excess welds.

Not looking to shabby hope to get a bit more done tomorrow night
