I just took some photos for someone on another forum, but, as folk here seem to like different approaches to thing, i thought id re-use them in this post.
Our house is old (1800s) and the only right angles are those that we've added since arriving.
The lounge floor was rotten, and needed replacing.
I could have used chipboard, and then laminate but it would not have looked right in the place. I could have used expensive real wood floor boards, but id have needed someone else's bank account.
Solution -
...and, yes, that is a bit of old snooker table that the log burner is sitting on!
(undoubtedly, the things that have had the most money spend on them in the entire lounge are its usual occupants - believe it or not, there's two of them in that bed!)
Im sure any builder would recognise the boards from their former life!
